Victory Over CBS and Liberalism (FreeRepublic leadership in CBS boycott)
IntellectualConservative.com ^ | November 16, 2003 | Jon Alvarez

We don't have access to the TV cameras like celebrities do, but we do have control over our wallets and our television dials.

America has been witness to another battle as the war of ideologies continues within this country. This war, between patriots who love their country and leftists who seek to undermine all things American, is nothing new and should come as no surprise. Remember the huge public outcry over the Dixie Chicks as they chose to attack our president from abroad? This recent flap with CBS was no different as leftist Hollywood attempted to smear the legacy of President Reagan. Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty would be proud, as patriotic Americans fight off continued assaults on our country from the left.

This war is being waged for the minds and hearts of those Americans who glean what little knowledge they may have of current events and history from their television sets. Until the events of 9/11, many of us would have fallen into this category as well. These people, the misinformed, will eventually wake up and join the political battle for control of America and her destiny. Until then, it's of utmost importance that we continue to win battles in this culture war. We've seen how the left in America have slowly eroded our values and norms. One only has to look to recent court battles over the Ten Commandments and the Pledge of Allegiance for proof of this. America is not only under attack from terrorism, but from liberalism as well.

Some left-wing pundits have taken the position that this was only a movie, an entertainment vehicle, and did not warrant the response it garnered. However, one cannot doubt the impact the media has on the minds of the masses. How many Americans now repeat the leftist mantra that Operation Iraqi Freedom was a "war for oil", or that President Bush said "Iraq was an imminent threat" or that "Bush lied"? Nothing could be further from the truth in all instances, yet the liberal media have helped to entrench these mistruths in the minds of the masses. We must not underestimate the power of the broadcast word and its influence on unformed opinion. Americans are beginning to realize the truth concerning the agenda of the media and Hollywood.

We cannot allow the hypocrisy of Barbra Streisand to go unnoticed as she cries censorship. Babs claims this was part of a sinister right-wing conspiracy, seeking to stifle "artistic integrity". Where was Ms. Streisand when liberals sought to silence Dr. Laura? Did Ms. Streisand stand up for Rush Limbaugh when critics called for his resignation from ESPN? Someone needs to inform the left that free speech is a two-way street and the boycott is still considered a legal means of protest. Are liberals upset that we have borrowed their favorite weapon to use against them? This is not censorship, it's simply consumer backlash.

Average working stiffs like myself have begun to organize to have our voices heard. We have grown tired of Hollywood biting the hand that feeds them. It's time for them to take notice; CBS was merely one battle in this broader war. We don't have access to the TV cameras like celebrities do, but we do have control over our wallets and our television dials. It's time for Hollywood to find a new villain; we're tired of America being portrayed as the bad guy. America is the greatest country in the world, where people are dying to move here. If these spoiled stars don't appreciate our country and won't support it, then why should we support their careers?

Obviously, it's been reported that many Americans voiced their outrage over this despicable attack, thus defending the honor of a noble man unable to defend himself. What is being under-reported is the fact that much of this outrage was in fact, spearheaded by certain groups that are taking positions of leadership in this struggle. Groups such as FreeRepublic.com and PABAAH (Patriotic Americans Boycotting Anti-American Hollywood) worked in conjunction with conservative pundits like Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and Joe Scarborough in getting the message out to other patriots.

Are we seeing the emergence of modern day Committees of Correspondence? Colonial patriots formed such networks during the decade of turmoil preceding the American Revolution to share information and plans of action. It's not far-fetched to make such a comparison. Battle lines are being drawn, that much is certain. The Internet has proven to be a most valuable tool with which to share information amongst groups of other like-minded people. The threat to our way of life is as real today as it was back in the colonial days. Patriots throughout America are taking notice and taking action. In fact, we are beginning to organize boycotts and protests in anticipation of the release of Michael Moore's conspiracy film "Fahrenheit 911", which is due out next year.

Aside from the obvious victory we achieved in the capitulation of CBS, there are several other victories that we can savor as well. More Americans have awoken to join us, as their outrage has lifted them out of their fog and has turned into a new awareness of the liberal agenda in Hollywood. This is obviously bad news for liberals in America as we gain new converts. Also, there is a renewed interest in the Reagan story. Hopefully someone in Hollywood will get a clue that many would enjoy an accurate depiction of this great man's life and legacy. Finally, the Reagan family can take solace in the groundswell of support they received throughout this controversy.

The stakes are very high as we move forward in this struggle. Some in Hollywood will cry that this movement is in fact, a renewed "McCarthyism", a return of the infamous blacklist. We prefer the term Red-White-And-Blue List as we continue to hold those celebrities accountable for their anti-American positions. We respect free speech, it's a two-way street for all to enjoy. What we don't respect is attacks on people and things we cherish and hold most dear. The Constitution does not protect one's right to earn our hard-earned entertainment dollars. Support our country and our way of life and we will support you. Speak badly of it, side against it, and consider yourself fired. You are still free to speak your mind Hollywood, just not on our dime.

Many people are realizing the power of the Internet, and that conservatives use it to challenge the liberal bias and rhetoric where ever we find it. We aren't generally in Unions that provide the outside influence to organize herds into a cohesive force, or tell them what to think, do, or say. But, by organizing on the Internet, without any real leadership or directors, we have gelled into our own powerful force. Except for a big difference. Our conservative power is generated from within each of us, where we have a deep love of freedom and independence that forms the bonds between us, and a verifiable common source of facts to back up our beliefs.

We know that the pen is mightier than the sword, and we have found a way to make our electronic pens so effective.

That's one.

What about the memo?

What about Neanderthal?

Nothing's changed, there's still a lot of work to do.

Good idea. Start a thread on these. Be the leader on this. There are a lot of volunteers here at FR who will help.

It's interesting to note that liberals are incensed that we reacted to their lies (which they call "dramatic license") about Reagan in their movie much the same as they would if we were to tell the truth about Clinton in a similar effort.

This is just so true that it makes me crazy. I hear it daily almost in my life. I heard it today from my housekeeper. The leftist's took a page from Hitler, "Repeat a big lie often enough, and it becomes the truth."

We have the responsibility to expose who the real liars are! I try to tell everyone I meet to give me an example of how Bush lied. They all repeat the same mantra, the talking points of the DNC, so you know where they are hearing it.

THE DAY THAT TV DIED

Posted on 10/26/2003 3:39 PM PST

by I'll be your Huckleberry

In every evolutionary wave there is an event called the "tipping point". A place in time and space where "what once was" becomes "that which will fade", and "that which will be" arises and never looks back.

On this day, a sleepy fall Sunday, events have placed us in the epicenter of such a tipping event. So let's call it as it is and mark this spot. Our cognizance of the flow has no effect on the eventual outcome, but awareness is never a bad thing.

You could see it coming. State of the art threads on the Shuttle crash, blog's from wartime Iraq, Mother Abigail's riveting threads on Sars, etc..., you could see it coming.

But today seems different. While the old media carried the most inane bits of rehashed garbage over and over - California burned.
Anxious families turned to the only news happening in real time.

The internet. Pseudonymed posters transposed scanner traffic to text, others followed law enforcement and fire fighter traffic to post the mind-numbing explosions of fires and evacuations.

While real people fled for their lives (8 dead at this writing) the old media played reruns. As the number of homes burning rose the frustration and anger at lack of coverage grew. Eyewitness were giving reports from their porches, digital pictures were being shot and posted.

Both the scope and the tragedy of the fire was becoming apparent. Not filtered, not edited nor syndicated - just live, real and dramatic.

And in the struggle to help ourselves understand the events - things changed.

Anonymous posters became neighbors. Offering prayers and pickup trucks to any in harms way.
Brave Doctors offered aid if needed, and while California burned Nascar, figure skating and celebrity marriages continued.

It cannot be undone. It will never be the same. Digital technology, tragedy and anger all formed a confluence one sleepy Sunday - never look back.

.........

I found this poster right on target...

Until recently the Left made the popular culture, but the internet, like talk radio, is out of their hands.

The liberal movement is dieing. With the age of communications, nothing is hidden, and everything is revealed. Their propaganda can be exposed, their lies exposed, their crimminal activities exposed.
Their political correctness has been exposed for the hate and mind control it really is.
People are saying "no" to liberalism. The liberal courts are behind the times, and they're trying to survive, but they don't have much time left either. They're being exposed, too.
There will always be that dumbed down 30% of lefties that will fall behind not knowing any different, but 30% has never guarenteed an election.
It's our turn now.

FOX had a poll today about the British. It turns out the majority (69%?) see America as good, and like the president. Something like 23%(?) opposed us. The liberal press makes it look the opposite, but because of the information age, that'll be corrected.
Same thing with Gays. The majority opposes it. "tolerance" was all a lie.
SS privatization is a big hit, as well as placing proscription drug coverage in the hands of private companies is also a big hit. Republicans are really more pro-elderly than the liberals said - they lied, again. It appears it was the Democrats who were hurting the elderly.

I know I'm going to get flamed for this but here goes:

I did not support kicking the Reagan show off of television. It continued a bad precedent established by liberals against TV shows like Laura Schlessinger's and Rush Limbaugh's. It's fine that people made a stink about it but it's unfortunate that censorship got involved. We all know liberals are hypocrites, why did we have to follow them? Conservatives are supposed to be about protecting free speech rights of people like student newspaper editors, conservative speakers, etc. Why is it OK to stop a liberal movie but not OK to stop Ann Coulter from giving a speech?

It would have been better if the show had run and then featured a debate segment in the middle of it on each day.

The movie has not been stopped. It is merely not being shown on CBS broadcast channel at 9pm. Anyone who wants to see it will tune in to Showtime or merely wait a little longer to get the DVD,

"but it's unfortunate that censorship got involved."

Censorship only involves the use of force by the government to control speech, so there was no censorship involved here.

We Patriots used our freedom of speech to counter the leftist freedom of speech, and we won. We won because we were outraged with their lies, which motivated us to e-mail and call the sponsors. Sponsors know that our conservative conviction means that the boycott will happen if we say it will. On the other side, when Ann Coulter speaks, the left is outraged because she is allowed to speak at all, not because they disagree with her statements. They can't disagree with her, she states only the fact based truth.

If you want to make a conservative mad, lie to him. If you want to make a liberal mad, tell him the truth.
