Your last paragraph: there's a good point, how COULD he say to Amy he was going fishing? Laci and/or Amy would probably have said, "Fishing?? Where?" And they didn't know about the boat, so they'd have been all puzzled and inquisitive. Easier to just say golfing.

How about this: maybe his telling conflicting stories was part of the plan. Maybe he was going to say to the cops, "All right, you guys caught me in my lies to my wife and her sister. All right, so I was really going to go engage in a little hanky-panky, and I contradicted myself while lying about it. So what? Planning to cheat on my wife doesn't make me a murderer." Then, maybe he envisioned Amber being slowly and gently told the truth by him, and Amber deciding to "stick by him b/c she loved him", and Amber coming out and telling the police, "Okay, guys, look, the truth is he was with ME on the 24th, and we spent most of the day indoors, if you know what I mean."

Very plausible. He probably wouldn't be spooked by telling conflicting sotries, that's what his momma taught him.

I wouldn't doubt that he had a rosy and romantic view of Amber being by his side while he brushed off those pesky detectives. He may have accomplished that feat once before!

He sure sounds like he was moving along in his stories as he planned. I can't wait to read yesterday's testimony to see exactly what and how Det. Brocchini revealed.
