Oh my, this is great! So many quotable statements in such a short interview. I like this one a lot:
>>Most injuries in journalism are caused by journalists falling off their egos onto their IQs. The concept that journalism knows and the public knows nothing and they're idiots is wrong.

< "You don't seem to have a sense of humor, Howell." He said, "I don't have one about journalism." So then, later, when Jayson Blair happened, I sent a note and just said, "Maybe it's time to develop a sense of humor about journalism." >
Just too funny.

It really helps CBS to smear Regan, trash homeschooling and generally consign their credibility to the garbage.
I hope they keep it up.

My son ( a student at Jacksonville University) had to endure a so-called media symposium entitled "WHY THEY HATE US". Editors from the New York Times, NPR, etc were there. It was filmed for Public Televsion...among the choice statements by these "objective" media types were the following:
Question: Do you think meida IS biased?
Answer: Some is, particularly Fox News which just propagates what its' viewers what to hear. Some jounralism is very bad, such as Rush Limbaugh.
Limbuagh was refered to by one of the "objective" panelist as a "drug addict".
Other nuggets from these FAIR and BALANCED Bozos were:
"The Bush Adminstration is trying to spin the war to make the American people think that it is going well. It is our job to tell the American people the truth."
Sadly, so my son tells me, there was no one there to challenge these idiots (and Fox News was NOT invited). The TITLE of the event shows the agenda based bias of these people..."WHY THEY HATE US".....If I had been there I would have challenged them to PROVE with RELIABLE polls, that the world hates us (meaning that polls from the LA TIMES and NYT could not be considered). They have NO evidence to back up there claim, other than communist sponsored demonstrations in some quarters of Euorpe...they have an AGENDA..it is to HURT BUSH and make it appear that Bush's policies are causing the US to be HATED around the world.

I've got a suggestion for Mr. Ailes:
My son is being subjected to CNN's news in his public school classroom. He's expressed disgust about this more than once (my 13 year old is bright and well taught by his mother!). Fox News needs to EXPAND to offer classroom news services! I don't trust CNN to keep their politics out of their stories -- they never have before -- and I'd be the first to suggest to the school district that picking up the Fox feed would be the way to go.
