Downing Street 'mystified' by Bill Clinton claim

Downing Street says it is "mystified" by reports that Tony Blair discussed his health problems several years ago with Bill Clinton.

Mr Blair's spokesman insisted that his irregular heart beat, which caused him to be hospitalised briefly last week, had never happened before.

But ex-US President Clinton was quoted in the Sunday Mirror as saying: "I've known about this for a long time. He told me about it quite a few years ago.

"As soon as I heard what happened, I called to check he was OK. We had a talk and he sounded in good shape."

Mr Blair's spokesman said: "What we have said has been based on the opinion of those who have been responsible for the Prime Minister's medical care. We are slightly mystified by this story as this is the first time this has happened.

"The Prime Minister does not have, and has never had, a heart condition and he has never had this complaint before. It would have needed treatment.

"What we have said has been based on the clinical advice of doctors. This has never happened before and there is no reason why this should re-occur.

"Were the Prime Minister to have had anything like this before, it would have required treatment. All we can go on is what the clinicians told us and, as they have said, this has not happened before and there is no reason why it should recur."

Asked if the Prime Minister had had the conversations with President Clinton, the spokesman replied: "I have not been present at every single conversation the Prime Minister has had with President Clinton," he said.

Mystified? What's so mystifying? Every word that comes out of that man's mouth is a lie.

Dr. Bill's perscription for Astroturf was also met with some curiosity at 10 Downing Street.

Do you suppose they COMPARED health problems? Maybe the British press should interview Blair on this supposition.

It would be interesting to see tabloid headlines on why bill's nose is so red.

I guess it depends on what the meaning of the word "known" is.

Now if he commented on Courtney Love's Clamydia infection, and it's resulting effect on their relationship I would be completely convinced of the accuracy of said comments.

"We are slightly mystified by this story as this is the first time this has happened.

Translation: Mr. Clinton is full of it."

Clinton really is pathological regarding his inability to tell the truth. Of what benefit (other then ego gratification) is it, to him, to tell this lie?

But Tony has too much class to say anything. It's amazing to me that anyone would say boo to Clinton with anything of value.

As they say down at the sawmill, "he'd rather climb a tree and lie than stand on the ground and tell the truth".

Bubba should just keep blabbing. It's offhand statements like this that will bring him down.

If he thinks he can take on Downing Street and both the Labour and Tory parties, plus the average Brit, he's got another clinker in his thinker. This is because the citizenry will largely rally behind any leader who's been betrayed or lied about, whether it's Clintoon or anybody.

No matter how the London socialist media tries to spin this, Tony will elicit sympathy, and Beezlebubba will garner scorn.
