War shuts borders, and this is war
New York Daily News ^ | October 27, 2003 | Stanley Crouch

One of the problems with the way cultural relativism has fallen upon us in our time is that we are only supposed to be critical inward. Any criticisms of other cultures or other systems of belief or other modes of social conduct are dismissed as expressions of some sort of bigotry. There was merit to this thinking at first.

After all, the history of conquest and colonialism was thick with examples of how native peoples had been abused and exploited, sometimes exterminated, on the basis of the claim that their beliefs were "primitive" or "savage," meaning that it was all right if the people themselves disappeared from the Earth.

It seems to me, however, that almost all human endeavors have a bright and a dark side. The dark sides of activities and beliefs beyond our shores should be examined with the same intensity as we have examined our American dark sides, almost from the start of the nation itself, and with ever increasing - and enlightened - intensity.

In our present war, we are up to our necks in this problem, primarily because any criticism of Muslims can be interpreted as bigotry toward all its believers. The upshot is that we seem to continue pussyfooting around our troubles and not making it clear to the public what is going on and how we have to handle it.

I have been writing for a while in this space that I believe we should have a moratorium on immigration from anywhere in the Islamic world because the nature of destructive technology is such that even very small numbers of immigrants - 19, for instance - can kill large numbers of people if that is their mission. War always shuts down borders, and we are, ladies and gentlemen, in a war.

This has always been responded to as a bigoted idea when, according to critics, we can easily see that Islam is a religion of peace and the great majority of Muslims are not terrorists. I'm not concerned about the great majority of Muslims outside America, but I am sure that within that great majority are thousands of believers who would gleefully bring off any version of Sept. 11 if they could.

So it seems to me that we have no choice. Circumstances are such that we should not be manipulated by arguments that do not obtain in our present situation. We have to move with resolve, with good sense and a sensitivity to the dangerous potential for hysteria that can result from focusing on any group.

We also need to understand that the American Muslim community has been of virtually no help at all in our war against urban terrorism. Perhaps they fear, as other minority groups have so often, that if they turn in, even anonymously, some suspicious person or group, hell will come down on all who share belief in the same religion. I think the response would be the reverse.

What American Muslims need to understand, however, is that this is not a Muslim country, or else they would have probably been slaughtered in the thousands after Sept. 11. The public hysteria would have been parallel to the sort Americans saw from Southern redneck whites who were always ready to string a Negro up, cut off his fingers and toes for souvenirs and burn him, dead or alive, feeling more white and righteous with each puff of smoke they inhaled.

Gone are those days. So we need to face what we have to face and do what we have to do.

The author is correct, we are at war.
We have not declared it so, the enemy has.

How long before the PC media mafia has him fired, investigated, and turned out in the street?

I'm sure they'll try their best.

The leftist pukes who push "cultural relativism," "social justice," etc. are of the same ilk as the socialist scum who murdered at least 100 million of their fellow citizens last century.

They are filth and deserve the same fate as their victims. We owe them.

Now on to the immediate problem.

We also need to understand that the American Muslim community has been of virtually no help at all in our war against urban terrorism.

I got just two words. Internment camps.

I noticed that the employee of the newspaper brings up the "evil" Southern redneck. The Society of Professional "Journalists" guidelines pleads that no member use pejorative words with Muslim or Islam.

But, if a member absolutely must, then the member is strongly encouraged to include one or more examples of American "terrorists" such as anti-abortion groups, rednecks, etc. To wit, their Oct., 2001 National Convention in Seattle, published guidelines. Number 5: When writing about terrorism, remember to include white supremacist, radical anti-abortionists and other groups with a history of such activity. diversity_profiling.asp on their web site.

This of course is news management and not reporting. It sucks and is one reason mainstream "journalists" suck.

I don't know this newspaper employee's politics but he did not go far enough. Internment camps.

We're not really at war, or we wouldn't still be dealing with this cr*p.

I have believed for some time that we're going to have to lose a city before Americans will really believe we're at war. And once that happens, which given enough time is almost inevitable, the PCers will suddenly become very, very quiet.

Makes more sense then O'Reilly's or Buchanan's idiotic suggestions on immigration.

I think you're being too optimistic.
One city gone would merely interfere with the sheeples TV watching patterns for a day or two.
Most of them have already forgotten 9/11.

I disagree. The problem with 9/11 is that Bush has been too effective at fighting terrorists. Thus people have been allowed to subconciously think of 9/11 as an event, like an earthquake, not part of a process, like a war being waged against us.

Oddly enough, successes for the terrorists will brings their descturcion closer, while their ongoing failure to succeed in their attacks is actually a victory for them.

This is because their only real military asset is our reluctance to pull the plug of niceness and PC on them. Losing an American (or probably even a European) city would result in the immediate, permanent opening of a large, economy size can of whup*ss, followed shortly after by their annhilation.

I sure would prefer you to be correct.

The sheeple I work with on a daily basis have
assigned blame for everything on the evil Bush,
his father, and rich folks after oil.

Buchanan wants a moratorium of Muslim immigrants.
He just looks at the larger picture as well.

Re: Who to send to camp for the duration of the wars -- wars, as in against radical Islam attacks and the home-grown attacks on our culture and heritage.

In the early 1970s I became convinced that traditional political debate was impossible with the New Left. They soon seized the Democrat party and most traditional, patriotic Party leaders fled under a hail of "neo-conservatives!" epithets.

Since then others have joined the leftist swine's assault on our heritage and culture. I've listened to almost four decades of America is the "root cause" of the world's problems. I've watched our rights disappear and our sovereignty weakened.

Who would I put into the internment camps? Whoever the Bush administration, with the advice of Americans like Rumsfeld and Lt. Gen. Boykin, has the guts to confront.

Sadly, it will take more attacks on our sovereignty and more 9/11s however because "all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed."

I spit on America's domestic enemies' "rights." Abolish their "rights." Abolish what we are "accustomed" to in our universities, mainstream media, foundations, Islamists groups, and more -- all enemies of our heritage and culture. They have no rights under our Constitution.

If necessary and except for the Second Amendment put the Constitution on the shelf in a safe place and take care of business. It's happened before during war time and it's been restored.

WE'VE LOST MORE RIGHTS -- SPEECH, PROPERTY AND PERSONAL PROTECTION -- DURING PEACETIME DUE TO THE LEFTIST SWINE THAN DURING ANY WARTIME.

The short answer is, anyone who will not sign a loyalty oath.

You are seriously deranged. And you are clearly worse than any enemy you perceive.

I would fight you to the death before any foreign enemy.
