Bush Issues Ramadan Statement
VOA News ^ | October 25, 2003

Posted on 10/25/2003 5:21:58 AM PDT by sarcasm

The White House has issued President Bush's annual greeting to Muslims around the world who will observe the holy month of Ramadan.

In his message, President Bush says Islam is a peaceful religion that has helped shape the character of the United States, and has made great contributions to the world.

Mr. Bush said Americans cherish the freedom to worship and, he said, "we remain committed to welcoming individuals of all religions."

During Ramadan, President Bush said Muslims fast, pray, contemplate and renew their commitment to lead lives of honesty, integrity and compassion.

The main reason was that some enlightened minds were worried that the Japanese would turn and fight against other American's because they thought they were Japanese first and American's second. Kind of the same way some folks are looking at Muslims in uniform today.

At the same time, there were a number of Japanese American's who served with distinction in the Pacific Theater.

You are entitled to your opinion.
I am entitled to mine.

I think we can defeat utterly Islam without those 13,000 saboteurs among our armed forces.
Understanding Islam thoroughly will do that to any rational person.

Not that I know of.

Care to try for a second reason?

"Excuse me? I didn't send you any email."

Well dude you had better get ahold of an admin mod because somehow someone is sending me some very sick e-mail and it's showing up under your name somehow:

THE FIRST ONE:

"That murdering scum was a disgruntled soldier who happened to be Muslim...nothing more."

Nothing more? You forgot he's a black also, which is worse than being an islamist.

SECOND ONE:

OK. So now we know you're a racist black. Also you're a hypocrit. Japanese are non-blacks and you're defending them when it serves you. Do all of us a favor and get back to where you came from. This is a Christian white European country created on Christian principles and for the benefit of our Christian progeny.

LIKE I SAID, you had better let an admin mod know that somehow someone can send Freep mail like this IN YOUR NAME.

"Don't worry about the sarcarm thingy...the truth was already exposed enough."

I find it somewhat revealing that you chose the words 'truth' and 'exposed' in the same phrase. It implies that what you think I would like to do (i.e., start a KKK-based church, and expect 'religious freedom'), based on my sarcastic point-making comments, is not a good thing. Now I'm confused again. Hasn't your whole argument throughout this thread been that we should not cast aspersions upon others' beliefs, and that all 'religions' are protected by the 'freedom of religion' Amendment? Where do you really stand on this issue? Complete freedom of 'religion', or just freedom of religions of which you approve? We may still have to define 'religion' before this argument is done, don't you think?

THIRD ONE:

I did not sent those emails. You must have made them up yourselfe.

Looks like whoever is using your name to send these Freep mails is now trying to cover up for you.

Whatever champ. My whole point on this thread is that:

1) There are many fine American's who are Muslim

2) They have the same Constitutional right to follow their religion as does a Christian or Jew

3) They are serving in the Armed Forces, including in Iraq

4) That the President is right and proper in wishing Muslim American's well during their holy time.

It's just that CWOJackson wants to make us believe that they ranks were made up of mainly muslims, which I doubt.

I think you missed his point. His point was during WWII Japanese Americans were viewed as enemy, much as we view møøselimb Americans as enemy today. Some Japanese Americans served with distinction despite the jaundiced view and outright discrimination. His contention is that our møøselimb solidiers will similarly acquit themselves.

I think he's wrong.

Although I will allow that some large percentage of møøselimb American soldiers will be Americans first. It's the others that I'm worried about.

Oh, I'm not missing his point at all...I'm getting Freep mail from him that makes his position quite clear.

Every Muslim is NOT an Islamic Fundlementalist

No doubt this is true. But, they had better not let it be known. To do so makes them apostate and subject to a fatwah, punishable by death, which any true Muslim should carry out against him if he gets a chance.

A true Muslim will kill the Infidel for Allah if he will not convert, or maybe allow him to enter into slavery and submission. A true Christian will tell the unbeliever the Good News and if he will not convert should go his own way but pray for him.

These are completely different outlooks on the world, on God and on Scripture. One leads to blood, bondage and conquest. The other leads to peace, freedom and reconciliation. Maybe you can tell me which one leads to which?

Absolutely! It's probably only 10% of them that are saboteurs.

"A true Christian will tell the unbeliever the Good News and if he will not convert should go his own way but pray for him."

You obviously haven't read much about any of the MANY pograms of Jews in Christian Europe...where they either converted or were tortured to death. Pretty regular event over there for several centuries.

That is no less disgraceful of our young men and women in uniform then him claiming they all are.

If only we named nationstates as our enemy instead of a tactic. That'd preclude this whole islami debate. At the most, arabs number no more than 300 mill people; and if u exclude the Maghreb, even fewer.

Bush's failure to name and confront the SaudisPakis has lead to these arguments and controversy about islam blah blah blah.

0) I like pet names; they make me feel all warm and fuzzy and such.

1) I do not refute that many fine Americans are Muslim.

2) I still need to know if it is safe and sensicle to allow my neighbor to follow his 'religion' (to the word) if that 'religion' teaches him to kill me. In my mind, that is a 'cult'.

3) I do not refute that Muslims are serving in the Armed Forces, including in Iraq.

4) As long as the President doesn't appear to be pandering or otherwise disengenuous, I do not refute that the President is right and proper in wishing Muslim Americans well during their holy time
