Thank you, Gov Jeb Bush! [FR posters, reply here to thank Jeb re Terri]
10/21/03 | summer

Posted on 10/21/2003 11:09:54 PM PDT by summer

Hello FR,

Yes, there has been GREAT NEWS TODAY ABOUT TERRI! Surely goodness and mercy WILL follow her all the days of her life...

I hope the Lead Moderator allows this Very Special "THANK YOU" thread (that I intend to email to Gov Bush) to stay in the sidebar, so all of you will see it and post on it.

But first, following all the recent (and totally unwarranted) Jeb-bashing on this forum, some people (especially new people) may desperately need this review and mini-lesson about Gov Bush:

(1) For those of you who doubted Gov Bush's DESIRE to HELP in this matter, SHAME ON YOU! Here is the full text of the letter Gov Bush wrote early on to Judge Greer, for those of you who missed it:

From JEB to FR: Full text of Gov Bush's letter to Judge Greer re: Terri Schiavo

(2) For those of you who did not know that Gov Bush has been, and continues to be, "FL's Favorite Governor", for MANY GOOD REASONS, check out these two articles about the guy FL is proud to call its Favorite Gov:

Jeb quietly goes to the rescue of a 2-year-old

Golf Links Bush, Boy [Jeb shares his views, and golf, with autistic teen]

(3) For those of you who are new, and shocked that the governor of the 4th largest state is ALWAYS interested in listening to the people he serves, check out these two articles:

Governor hears Polk County citizens' woes, both strange and sad [Jeb listens..whoa! What an earful!]

World Wide Jeb

(4) Finally, for those handful of posters who actually DOUBTED the JEB-emails I posted on two threads were NOT from him - well, you have missed half a dozen such threads over the years, and believe me, ALL those emails are from him.

And, I am not the only person he has written to over the years. In fact, as I recall, a number of those other people who've heard from him over the years posted here, on this thread I started less than 1 day after Election Day 2002, when Gov Bush was re-elected in a landslide (and made history as FL's first GOP gov to win a 2nd term):

HEY! Q: Guess who took the time to write a special thank-you note to FR posters? A: JEB BUSH!

OK, mini-lesson over!

Now -- if you have something NICE and POSITIVE to say to FL's Favorite Governor (such as: "THANK YOU"), then please do reply on this thread. My own thank you to Gov Bush is posted in my reply #1 below.

Have a BEAUTIFUL DAY!
summer :)

Good work Gov. Bush.

The big question is why doesn't this guy who wants to end his wife's life just divorce and get out of this?

#1 He already has left her in life having another woman, child and yet another one on the way. His motivation is what then?

#2 Her parents want to be guardians and care for her which would leave him to continue his life if he divorces?

I see this as totally being for the money. If he divorces, the parents and not he will get a massive chunk of any TV, Book, Appearance or Movie monies.
I see this guy killing off the wife and then hitting the circuit and networks for the bucks. Probably 2 million or more is available for such a story.

So this makes the husband motivated to see her die for two reasons... Over money and another woman with his children.

Seems conditions should merit an annulment if need be under law and award the parents guardianship.

Actions speak louder than words...nice job.

Dear Governor Bush,

I'll admit I was nervous for a while. I wasn't sure if you were going to pull this off. You did, and I must say sir, I am impressed. Thank you. This action is important on so many levels. You did very well. Please keep up the good fight. You have proven yourself to be a true leader.

Would like you to move to California? Sunshine without the humidity? We'll have a job opening in about three years for which you are well qualified ;-)

Sincerely,
Debbie in California

P.S. Any man who can wear that birthday hat has a strong sense of self.

Dear Govenor Bush,

Although I was one of the people here who publicly lost a bit of faith in you earlier this week and advocated putting some political pressure on you ,I want you to know how much I apprecite your efforts. I stand before you humbled that I lost faith for while, I can only say it is human nature.

As I tuck my children in at night, for the first time in over a week, I feel much more secure in the fact that our elected representatives did hear our cries and acted upon our deepest wishes, to see a woman saved from an unjust death sentance. Furhter to stand up for our most vunerable citizens and protect their rights to the fullest.

. I know the days ahead will be difficult, and you will face much political re-hashing of what unfolded. I pray that God will give you the strength to fight, and the security in your heart of knowing that what you did was right and just for Florida ,and for America.

Please be well Govenor Bush, I will look for ways to support you in the future.

Thanks Governor Jeb Bush! We need to get Terri appointed a real guardian now, as you requested. You know, someone who is truly looking out for Terri's best interests. Help us keep the faith and keep up the fight! God Bless you & yours...

And a big thank you and hug to those Florida state lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who voted in favor of Terri's bill. The same for all you wonderful Freepers who lit the fire for heavy grassroots action. The fight is not over, so hang on....

Dear Governor Bush:

I can attest that you do answer emails from Floridians as I have received some myself.

In their anguish and anxiety over the horror of the court ordered death by starvation and dehydration of Terri Schlinder-Shiavo, a few posters expressed doubts that you would ever act.

Knowing that you have demonstrated a deep Respect for life and compassion towards the vulnerable and disabled; I believed that you would eventually find a legal way to save the life of Terri Schlinder-Schiavo.

I was a strong supporter and worked as a volunteer for your reelection in 2002. I am so proud that you are my Governor. You have my pledge to work as a volunteer should ever seek the office of Senator or President.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your actions this week in saving an innocent disabled woman from a cruel and horrible death.

May God Bless you and your family.

Thank you so much Governor Bush!!!

And I'll agree with the sentiment expressed by many: you can count on my vote if you ever run for President.
