Thank you! I am pleased about the Terri developments but didn't need so many pings to the same articles.

BTT. I think what this newbie is saying is something like "please be civil and practice a discreet politesse or park yer sorry butts on some other forum." In a nice way, of course.

You are so right. The Baseball World Series playoffs and finals are much more appropriate fodder for ongoing Free Republic title updates compared to our judicial and legislative processes.
I would tell you how I really feel, but I imagine the baseball games are more important.

We also should quit bickering and posting on all the state pages regarding this matter. State pages should be for that state's matters (announcements/activism), even though I support the majority sentiment on the Florida Schiavo case. Maybe one or two crossover announcements, okay, but not hourly updates.

Yes, sir. I'll keep that in mind. And, for my part, I refuse to start any more threads about Mike Tyson.

I wish the Terri threads over the past few days could've been consolidated into one thread. With so many posts, it would've been easy to find in the sidebar.

Thank you bump. I thought I was the only one getting annoyed by what was happening on the Breaking News sidebar.
The Terri threads would have been a lot more informative and less traumatic for Freepers had they been consolidated into one.
And please, people...search before you post.

just like any story that is emotionally chargedExcellent use of understatement to make a point.
The level of passion on these theads is way too high for my comfort level.

Good comments, but honestly, if Free Republic could survive three months of Arnold debates, it can survive anything this hugh and this series.

We are all thrilled that progress is being made. But it really is not helping matters to overwhelm everything in the forum with every new detail.

And finally, this story has brought many new Freepers on board. To them, I extend a hearty welcome (hoo rah!). However, (speaking to the new folks now), some of you have been a little over-emotional, and are crossing the line when it comes to disagreements and engaging in personal attacks and flaming rather than debating.
Ya b*stard.

I agree about the need for civility. The Iraq War, in particular, is bringing out a lot of negative emotion on both sides and causing FReepers, who probably agree on most other issues, to engage in some nasty ad hominem attacks.
Speaking as a relative newcomer myself, this is the greatest conservative forum in the world, but some of the posters have a definite mean streak. I especially am puzzled about the tendency to jump on "newbies" as trolls and disruptors. Sometimes they deserve it, but not always.

Thank you, thank you.

Hell Oh, Lead Moderator . . . Just a silly question to break the landslide of Terri posts . . .Have you discovered a way to convert Lead Moderator into Gold Moderator??? ;-))

This is the last straw,
I'm calling the ACLU and reporting this obvious abuse and violation of my 1st ammendment right to choose what is, and what is not Breaking News on this private forum that is here for our enjoyment and use, as long as I agree to the rules established by the owner of this conservative Oasis in the middle of a Sea of liberalism. < /sarcasm > OFF
Thanks for all you do :-)

Please excuse the emotional responses. This is such a unique case that even the usually organized Freepers cannot get a handle on the category. It is not death of an unborn infant, and it is not a right to die issue. Our trouble with finding a label in this situation is very telling of our society. Everything does not fit into neat packages. We are all so moved by video images and lack of mainstream media. Please do not discourage the emotion of first time posters. This seems to be the mission of Free Republic. FREE.
