You don't hear of young women like her just dropping (almost) dead like that.

However, there's more to it. She is believed to have had a heart attack induced by malnutrition as a by-product of bulimia, which both her husband and her parents acknowledge she suffered from.

I rather doubt that. It seems to be established fact that she was moved to a hospital, and that the hospital has been ordered to treat her. No hospital cares enough about Mr. Schiavo and his lawyer to refuse a legally authorized order from the Governor (backed up by two judges, who have refused to block it), when the refusal will kill the patient in short order. Mr. Schiavo and Mr. Felos don't have anywhere near enough money to make that worth the hospital's while.

To watch the video of her smiling at her mother is beyond heartbreak. Those who condoned Terri's death by dehydration and starvation are satanic; they will reap what they sow.

Very well said.

Watch the video. If your social agenda causes you to root for this girl's death, there's something horribly wrong with you and your agenda.

Next thing you know, a bunch of degenerate liberals who damn well know that you committed double murder will root for your acquittal because you're putting one over on the man. Oops, O.J. already pioneered that episode.

"Her husband, meanwhile, was "deeply troubled, angry and saddened that his wife's wishes have become a political pingpong," said his attorney, George Felos. "He, as many others, is absolutely stunned at the course of events."

I'll bet.

Jeb Bush, he saw that the people were giving him no choice, as did the Florida Legislature.

God Bless the American people, especially those who really worked so hard for this.

This turn of events gives me a lot of hope for our country.

Tonight, we demonstrate that we are a far better place to be sick & helpless than, oh, say, just for example...EUROPE.

Yeah. It's the counterpart part of the "there's more to this story" than the "her husband beat her within an inch of her life and is now trying to finish the job" conspiracy theory.

Some thoughts and facts:

Although counterintuitive, what was being done to Terri was not inhumane. Conscious patients with terminal diseases (usually advanced cancer) sometimes elect to stop receiving food and drink. They uniformly report that they are not suffering during the week or so that they remain conscious, and withholding nourishment and water is an accepted practice in the hospice community. This obviously assumes that the patient wants to die, which I understand is the major point of contention.

There is every reason to believe that Terri has no awareness of her surroundings. Who benefits from preserving her mitochondria? Who is paying for her care? Are disability checks going to anybody? Yes, it's crass to think of these things, but when there are opposite sides arguing vociferously, following the money can shed light on the situation.

Insertion of a feeding tube and using it to provide nutrition in any medical setting requires a physician's prescription. How does the state compel a doctor to write a prescription? Traditionally, state action has allowed or disallowed medical procedures, but I have never heard of a law that can compel a medical procedure.

This whole situation stinks. There are things worse than death, and Terri is there.

Finally...after so many starts and stops, this poor woman is allowed to live. I wish her some measure of comfort and peace.

Speaking of abortion - I want to get this off my chest.

Barbara Boxer and her ilk in the Senate today: everybody speaking IN FAVOR of the grotesque, torturous infanticide of the Partial Birth abortion... the Left keeps speaking of this as being the opening salvo of a slippery slope into the roll back of Roe v. Wade.

Please tolerate this vanity to allow me to rant a bit.

(1) "Roe" was railroaded. Norma McCorvey herself has repudiated the very court case that brought this about.
(2) The "Slippery Slope" has been in force and dragging us all into the abyss since 1973. The first step on this slope WAS abortion "rights."
(3) The Roe v. Wade decision did NOT permit abortion at any time on demand.
(4) Once the word "health" was being used with 'saving the life and health of the mother', this code phrase began being implemented as abortion at any time on demand, for "mental health" was assumed part of the equation. This was not permissible from Roe v. Wade, but has been upheld by numerous liberal courts since. Note: there is no test for "health" of the mother -- it is merely assumed to be improved by ridding her of the baby.

So now: one procedure, one TYPE of abortion, taking place AFTER the baby is fully viable is being banned... and the Left is apoplectic! This isn't the slippery slope -- we're already mired in the pit at the bottom of that hill from which we were perched in January of 1973. This merely erases one option for infanticide: many still remain.

Slippery Slope? Would Dr. Kevorkian have been tolerated AT ALL in 1970? How about Terri Schiavo's case? Think where we were then and where society is today. We are much more humane to convicted murderers than we are to babies trying to break free from the womb.

We now return you to your previously scheduled thread, already in progress. < /end rant >

Michael Schiavo will be a very wealthy man by the time the lawsuits are finished flying. No matter how everyone FEELS about this case, this action by the legislature and Jeb is no less then legislative usurption of the judicial branch.

Personally...I wouldn't want to live without a cerebral cortex. I wouldn't even be able to thank the nurse aide who changed my diaper 3 or 4 times a day.

And if Terri really didn't want to live in this condition then a terrible injustice has been done.

The FSC will hear this case you can be sure...Anyone care to bet on how they'll rule?
