These are the people Jeb solicited himself for advice. He asked them to make recomendations to him based Florida Law.

Re post #100 - Well, what's the plan?

Here is the plan: try to get my above post to Michael, as well as my post #1 on this thread. Find out the email address of his attorney and send him this thread. DO it now, before another hour goes by. And, then, pray that the grace of God fills his heart with love.

..Mr. Governor made a bedsit visit online, here on FR, today. He always has time for you, Byron, and for everyone else here. He has also visited with Terri's family just this week...

That's great to hear. Don't rope with in with the Jeb bashers, okay? I'm the one who reposted Qwinn's post, as a reminder that Schiavo and Greer are the real culprits. All the best, By

I meant: Try to get my posts #98 and #1 to Michael, ASAP, via his lawyer. Email his lawyer.

You misunderstood what I wrote. I meant my post to you in a friendly way.

I am not well versed on who are the Jeb bashers and who are not in this matter. I have been too busy with other matters to keep track.

Well, I'm not the praying sort, but if I were, I'd try as Summer suggests to pray that Michael, or someone higher than Greer on the court, has a change of heart and lets the right people know about it.

What can be done otherwise? I dunno. I really don't think anything can be done legally. As for illegal options, I'd strongly advise against it. It wouldn't save Terri, and it would just give grist to the religion-hater's mill.

The most counter-productive thing I can imagine, though, would be to not vote or vote against Jeb in the next election because of this. That'd be a great plan if you want someone in office who would veto the sort of laws that may hopefully get through the legislature someday that would prevent this from happening in the future. I have no doubt that Jeb would happily sign such laws into effect.

250 years of Constitutional case law has firmly established that the only thing the laws mean is what the highest Judge that will hear the case says it means. Period. End of story.

You're right on this. But on the other hand it is common enough for decisions on appeal to be turned over and that did not happen here. You might say the judges have all been hiding behind one another and Jeb is hiding behind the judges. I think it's reasonable to ask what's up with that?

Is guardianship such a sacred cow that no judge would take it on? Is it the sacred relationship of husband to wife that is being upheld so zealously here? I suppose if this man wasn't shacking up and having children with another woman that might be credible. Exactly what part of the law is so supreme that it must be upheld at all costs even if the price is a woman's life?

Is Jeb aware that Terri has been demied Holy Communion by her husband?

As a devout Catholic, I'm sure he would find the denial of spiritual nourishment especially cruel.

If you can make him aware of this latest cruelty to Terri by her husband (in name only) please do so.

Thank you.

I thought having a "living will" was to have it in writing that you "didn't want to be kept alive by artificial means". Now we should have one to state "At least feed me?" By the way, Terri did not have a "living will", but her husband decided that she doesn't want to be fed. But he doesn't make this decision until after Terri has some rehab and she begins to talk. Wonder why.
My feelings about Jeb's lack of action stand. He CAN stop this murder, but seems has chosen not to.

Summer-an aside-but an important aside-

A Freeper, Cyn, who has traveled to stand by Terri's side outside the hospice , wants everyone to know that a vigil is going to be held at 1:00 PM tomorrow-the 19th of Oct., outside the Woodside Hospice.

And a vigil at the WH (yes-the WHITE HOUSE) is planned for tomorrow, again, the 19th of Oct., at 3:00 PM that is being put together by a group of disabled Americans.

PS-I thought a hospice was a place where patients were tenderly cared for until death. Terri isn't terminal-WHY is she in a hospice??????????)

that would prevent this from happening in the future.

When Roe vs Wade has been overturned, let me know and then, *maybe* there will be a chance to overturn the "addition" to our constitution that is bringing this death to Terri.

She is far from the first and will not be the last, and most are not even heard of in the news as they die.

summer,

Since you have the direct line to Jeb, please pose this question to him.

If it was Jeb's daughter, not Terri Schiavo into her 4th day of starvation and fluids withheld under the same circumstances would he be doing anything in his power differently? I don't expect a public answer from him. Truly our Lord knows his heart and that is who Jeb will have to answer to.

Man can deceive you, as I am sure the Schiavo's have learned.

Rom 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
Rom 3:11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. Rom 3:12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

Only by the grace of God are our hearts able to receive and respond to the grace, mercy and the word of God...Jesus Christ and be transformed by it.

Peace

I do agree that one very disturbing thing rising out of all this is that, whereas the presumption used to be that a person would be kept alive UNLESS they had a written living will saying they wanted to die, now the default is that they die and they need a living will to stay alive! That is very troubling indeed. Incrementalism at it's finest.

"He CAN stop this murder"

How? My review of the history of this case, and my knowledge of the law, has led me to the inevitable conclusion that absolutely nothing Bush does can change the fact that the Courts have refused to hear any more appeals on the matter. And there -have- been so many appeals that it's impossible to argue that the Court hasn't addressed the issue sufficiently.

Summer, I agree that the fact that she's being denied last rites is especially chilling. Is there anything Jeb can do about -that-, at least?

*nod* You actually bring up a good analogy.

To the people screaming at Jeb for this: realize that Jeb has about as much legal power to save Terri as he would to directly intervene and prevent an abortion. In other words, none. The law hath spoken. Is it atrocious? Of course it is. Is it Jeb's fault? No.

And MarMema, you're right, this isn't the first case where this has happened. This is just the first one to get so much attention. The case law is already established. That's what I think people don't realize. It's as established as Roe v. Wade in a sense. There's nothing he can do. That doesn't mean he wouldn't do it if he could.
