Joe seems well versed on this issue. Perhaps he can answer a question that has plagued me over the years and has cost me countless hours of sleep. well, maybe not countless hours. Maybe two minutes.
Here's the question. If a Latino woman and an African-American man ( or a African-American woman and a Latino man) have a child, is the child Latino or African-American?

You are getting into Eugenics. Oh wait, thats called Genealogy now. Lol.
When they start asking if your maternal grandmother has 15.7% Jewish blood....nope. I misspoke again. African, not Jewish.
This is a slippery slope.

” is the child Latino or African-American?...”
It depends on the perks given out for each. I had four students whose dad was a black American doctor and mom was Malaysian. The boys looked like Tiger Woods. When one was applying to college, I asked what race he put down. Black was his instant response. Way easier for him to get accepted and scholarships as a black than as an Asian.

If a Latino woman and an African-American man ( or a African-American woman and a Latino man) have a child, is the child Latino or African-American? The obvious answer is that it depends on what program they are applying for.
