Trump won — again
The Times-News ^ | September 15, 2019 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 09/14/2019 11:46:51 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

Watching the Democratic presidential debate Thursday night left one clear impression: Donald Trump won.

Please don’t shoot the messenger. My left index finger recoiled a bit as it reached for the “T” on the keyboard. But it’s true for this reason: Democrats are too earnest. They care too much. They’re too smart. They know too much.

Whoever says, as California Sen. Kamala Harris did, “The American people are so much better than this” needs to get out more.

This isn’t to recommend that primary candidates should be more like Trump, not that they could. But as a panel of candidates, they’re missing a key element essential to voter interest. Not brilliant policies or the rote delivery of statistics but a clear and firm message as well as that other thing that Trump had in 2016 — “it.”

We’re used to saying “it girl,” but boys have “it,” too. And it isn’t necessarily good. In fact, in men it’s probably just a little bit bad. Bad enough to attract attention, to convey toughness, to seduce with dazzle or at least bedevil those around him. Love him or hate him — or just wish him away — Trump had the X-factor in spades and jokers.

Did she have her seeing-eye dog watch the debates and take notes while she took a nap?

Delusion of superiority may be the Left’s Achilles heal.

Democrats are too earnest. They care too much. They’re too smart. They know too much.

Take AOC, for example. Please.

But it’s true for this reason: Democrats are too earnest. They care too much. They’re too smart. They know too much.

Spoken (typed) like a true, delusional democrat. They have convinced themselves, through their echo chambers and believing their own propaganda, that they care.

They believe, in spite of all objective evidence and common sense to the contrary, that they are the smartest person in the room. Hint to any liberal lurkers out there, you're probably, almost certainly, not in any given setting.

They "know too much?" Yeah, I would agree. To borrow a quote from former President Reagan, "It's just that they know so many things that aren't so." Which is every bit as appropriate (perhaps even more so) today as it was back in the 1980s. Liberals believe they know best for everyone. Yes, this is laughable. However worse, they feel somehow entitled/qualified, called upon, even obligated to make decisions for the rest of us.

This self-aggrandizing attitude from living in a leftist bubble leads to all kinds problems. They start to believe they know best. Then they start to believe the ends (their enlightened ends) justifies the means. Then, through an over-inflated and entirely unjustified sense of superiority they decide the urgency of the situation du jour justifies any means...and down that path lies madness, oppression, and misery on a continent scale.

In short, 'rats, get over yourselves. You're not half as smart as you've convinced yourselves you are. You're violating basically every single tenet you claim to hold dear. You've become fascists in sheep's clothing (for now), but the echos of the National Socialist Party are not far off, and drawing ever nearer. Wake the **** up, seriously, YOU are the problem.

“Please don’t shoot the messenger.”

Is the implication someone else should be shot? Is that a coded “go” to an assassin?

With violent imagery like that you gotta wonder just how extreme a racist that Kathleen Parker is.

Some folks, when they mature, realize knowing what you don't know is more important than knowing what you do know.

Doubtful these folks will ever mature to that level.

“My left index finger recoiled a bit as it reached for the “T” on the keyboard.”

She’s a writer and knows the quotation marks about the T are not appropriate. Is “T” code for trigger? What was she thinking that her index finger came to mind?

Recoil: More gun imagery. More bigotry.

Yeah! When I was in my twenties, living in my parents' basement, and playing computer games 18 hours a day, I knew the real reason I wasn't getting any dates: I was too smart, too good-looking.

Yeah, I don't like how she begins her screed with a direct reference to evil firearms! I guess that she feels that most of her readers (Democrats) view violence as an appropriate, knee-jerk reaction to hearing something the least bit upsetting.

“...as all public speakers know, audiences don’t remember what you said; they remember how you made them feel. Trump made people feel excited, if for all the wrong reasons. This crew? Serotonin on the rocks without a twist.”

Satire or insanity?

Yeah, they’re so smart. They don’t understand economics, they don’t see the danger of illegal immigration or pandering to sexual deviants or killing unborn babies. They don’t see the value of the Constitution, especially the Bill of Rights. But they are so smart.

Democrats are too earnest. They care too much. They’re too smart. They know too much.

This illustrates a phenomenon similar to but distinct from Dunning-Kruger. In a study in which people were exposed to word salads, people of higher IQs immediately recognized the word salads as nonsense. However, those of lower IQs thought the word salads were conveying profundities. This phenomenon does not have a catchy name, unfortunately. It is, however, the only explanation for this author’s interpretation of the DemocRAT debate as evidence of being “too” smart and caring. I.e., she isn’t too smart.
