MR should be attacking the GOPe and how they are destroying the party. Trump is a result of the Conservative disgust with them.
I doubt Pres Reagan would be dismayed with Trump. He would be more dismayed with the incompetence of the vichy Repubs.
Trump is a carnival barker who will never be president. It stuns me that so many on FR back this guy.
Ronald Reagan never had a Republican House of Representatives and a Republican Senate. If he’d had that, he could have cured AIDS in his spare time while he was whipping inflation, getting the country going again, staving off the energy crisis, and transcending communism.But with the track record of this Republican Congress, he might have said of the Republicans what he said of the Democrats: ”I didn’t leave my party, my party left me.”
But unlike Reagan in the 1950s, we don’t have a major party to defect to. We are reduced to supporting Trump as a digitus impudicus to the political establishment, root and branch.
Sorry, Michael. Times were different then. Your father tried his best to keep the enemies outside the gates. Unfortunately, those that followed let them in.
Any and every arrow in the quiver is, unfortunately, now required.

The Tea Party zealots who haven’t learned from their mistakes in 2010 and 2012 are trying their best to screw up the GOP’s chances to win the Senate this fall.
Where does the Tea Party find these people to run in primaries? Most important, why do they offer them up as legitimate Republican candidates?
The Tea Party bosses have been listening to too much talk radio. They seem to think that what makes a good Republican candidate is someone who sounds like a talk radio host.
But talk radio is all about bombast and attracting callers, not about winning elections.
If Republicans are going to win general elections in 2014 and beyond, we’ve got to put up principled conservative candidates who sound like senators, congressmen, and governors — not kooks.
Ronald would be more appalled at the condition the GOP is in right now.

Your dad would have hundreds of more outrageous and incredible acts of social, economic and political insanity, all perpetrated by elected criminals of both parties (actual facts) than a dozen Trumps and (speculative) random acts of political incorrectness.
