Contra Dick Morris, Mitt Romney is not winning this election. At least Mitt Romney is not winning the election right now. Conservatives are obsessing over every poll, the turn out models used, and the media bias that is on ful display. Yes, some of the polling models seem screwy, though we all forget the pollsters apply a secret sauce known only to them on top. Yes, reporters are fully beclowning themselves to get their god-king re-elected. But while we may be focused there, the fact is the Romney campaign isnt functioning well. Lucky for you and me the election is not today. But something needs to happen in Boston and I am less and less hopeful anything will happen.
It would be easy to dismiss me by saying I never cared for Romney or Im somehow actually rooting against him. So let me put it to you this way: Jenn Rubin and I are on the same page. Thats either a sign of the apocalypse or there is something really dysfunctional happening within the Romney campaign.

Just the fact that “ he is not Obama” is enough to motivate anyone who thinks. Our nation is collapsing on all fronts under Obama. His “Wag the Dog” stunt recently has jeopardized national security.
When Mitt loses his double digit lead with indies then we will talk. Until then, this election is over
There are not enough thinking people in this country, unfortunately....they feel.
I remember that, too...good reminder.
But this guy is supposed to be on “our” side!
We really need to “clean house” after this election both in the Pubbie party and in the “conservative” media...
I’m sick of fighting this battle on two fronts....
There are still conservatives, even on this site, who will not miss an opportunity to tear down Romney. These are the same people who will complain the loudest if Obama is re-elected.
He’s promoted and quoted on Morning Joe ad nauseum. Which backs up your point.
Another question...
Seeing any Obozo signs in your neck of the woods?
I live by a predominately black neighborhood - very nice folks, quiet neighborhood - in a “majority, minority” district...
In 2008, the place was plastered with Obozo signs...
This year, not one...
An omen of things to come?
The main question is where does Romney stand with the “leaners”? Can he win them over to his side in the days leading up to the election. Probably never so much has ridden on the debates as this election. I think people are still waiting to see what Mitt’s all about.
If the election were held today, who would win the 2016 election?
I don’t see too many yard signs, but bumper stickers are about even... of course I pass through Newport News on I-64 on the way to work. But there’s nothing like the cult movement we saw in 2008.
One thing I’ve noticed since 0bama took power in 2009... not one... not a single one of those “Dissent is Patriotic” stickers.
What gobbeldygook...
This election, is was, and ever will be a REFERENDUM ON OBAMA! That’s it folks... nothing more.
This Romney’s not on topic or romney isn’t a figher, or this are that are nonsense.
Romney’s the NON OBAMA CANDIDATE, its really that simple. Pundits are making way more about this nonsense than is there. Would I like to see a more blood and guts campaign? Sure I would, but at the end of the day would it really change the dynamic much? Not really, Romney would perhaps win by a larger margin, or perhaps, with the help of the MSM misfire and be painted as too radical.. which is EXACTLY what Obama needs to hope to save himself.
I honestly think this entire election is just for show, and Obama himself knows he’s not going to win re-election and has already picked out where in Hawaii he’s going to live etc. This is just bread and circuses, IMHO.
Every re-election is nothing more than a referendum on the incumbent, particularly for the white house, and its Obama who’s got to give a reason for 4 more years, and frankly he’s got none.
Why all this hand wringing is beyond me.
Anyone who thinks Romney isn’t a fighter didn’t watch the primary season.
What I would like to see are more attacks against Obama's personal narrative. They would reasonate. Poll after poll indicates how many people have doubts about Obama's religion, birth certificate, associations with the likes of Ayers and Rev. Wright etc. Obama is very vulnerable there and it will get him off his game in much the same way that the Swift Boat vets for Truth froze Kerry like a deer in the headlights for almost a month. Romney doesn't have to do it, but he could use surrogates like the SuperPacs to go after Obama.
The Obama campaign had no compunction about attacking Romney over Bain and his tax returns and there is an undercurrent of anti-Mormon attacks. Romney should not act like McCain. Nothing should be off limits given the stakes in this election. The survival of this country will hinge on the results. This is our last shot.
But this is not a thread about Erik Erickson's character.
His points, I believe, are salient.
What the heck Laz! These are the same points I've been making and you called me the "original Debbie Downer" for doing so. Now you agree?
I don’t even see a lot of bumper stickers this time around and many are hold overs from’08...,
While it really means nothing, I’m sure...
Can’t help but feel hopeful...
We are, after all, a “swing state”.
“We still have the debates.”
“Don’t worry. We still have the bulkhead between boiler room #5 and boiler room #4...”
(chief engineer, R.M.S. Titanic)
Jes’ teasin’....
“An opponent that has the press, most of the Washington bureaucracy (and all the other pigs that slop at the government troth), as well as all the people that receive a check every month from the government, on his side.”
The “press” is never going to be “on our side” again.
Never.
NEVER.
Need I repeat that again?
If anything, their bias will become MORE obvious in the years to come.
There’s a distinction: Erik speaks to solutions, and seems to identify a particular sabateur in the ranks. Your posts, (the ones I have seen) are just “the polls are right, all is lost, woe is me”....I didn’t get a sense that you were doing anything but being a big ole conservative Valium.
“Looks to me that the folks dont see much difference between Obama and Romney.”
If one cannot “see the differences” between Obama and Romney, one isn’t looking very closely. Heck, one doesn’t even have to look “closely” to see them — all one has to do is look, period.
That what you wrote above may be true is due more to the ignorance of the “folks”, than the differences between the two candidates, of which there are many.
Imposssible.
The only way they could be more obvious is to actually call themselves Democrat National Committee Spokespeople.
Obama would lose right now, and he will lose come election day. These experts who are seldom right should get their heads out of the campaign @rses, and look at what is happening on the streets of America. Demographics determine poll numbers, but they don’t determine enthusiasm, and there isn’t any. That doesn’t bode well for Obama. If he does poorly in the debates, he will become a another dummy on the trash heap of American mistakes.
Although I believe what I said above is true, I’m researching an escape from America. If the people here are stupid and corrupt enough to reelect Obama. This country can’t be salvaged.
