Mitt Romney, the GOP's Bridge to Oblivion
Gregg Jackson ^ | July 20, 2009 | Gregg Jackson & John Haskins

Almost no one in politics or the media will admit it in public, but the GOP lost the Presidency in 2008 by alienating the moral conservative base that the elites loathe. Many stayed home or voted third party, rejecting a nominee who was in fundamental aspects a liberal Democrat.

That is why Barry Sotero — a radical socialist with Islamic roots posing as a Christian, groomed for years by Marxist revolutionaries, who hides essential documents of his birth, education and career, who campaigned with illegal funding from overseas interests, who as far as 300 million Americans can honestly tell, was born in a foreign country and (under the plain language of the Supreme Law of the United States, the Constitution) cannot legally be our President, who lacks even the executive experience of a night manager at a self-serve gas station — nevertheless sleeps in the White House. That’s why. Do the homework. Look at the demographics.

Quite a few of you need to stop living in the fantasy world where politicians maintain the same philosophies and policy positions throughout long political careers.

Two things:

One, I will only vote for a conservatarian.

Two, I won't deny that an individual has a right to change his or her philosophies and policy positions, but that change had better be sincere. Unfortunately, in Mr. Romney's case, his overall political record indicates a consistent willingness to mince words and feign conversion in order to simply get elected...and mind, you, that is something wholly undesirable in a candidate for a public trust such as the office of President of these United States of America.

your posts are a real “laffer.”

And your lame replies show you have nothing to say. And everyone is becoming very repetitive so it's time to depart from this one.

What a bizarre article! No decent human being can stomach it. Mitt Romney and his wonderful family do not deserve to be harassed in this manner.

Surely you underestimate the Romneys.

I'm positive his sons can take it. They toughened right up on their tour of duty in 08. I heard that one of them had to turn down his own covers one night. And one night, rumor has it that he had to send his steak back twice before the chef got it right. That's more than any human should have to endure.

Romney: Sons Serve Country By Campaigning (^)

Mitt Romney FTA: "My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard."

FTA: He added: "One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president."

FTA: Romney noted that his middle son, 36-year-old Josh, was completing a recreational vehicle tour of all 99 Iowa counties on Wednesday and said, "I respect that and respect all those and the way they serve this great country."

Was the woman who asked the question that prompted Romney's answer satisfied?

FTA: "Of course not," Griffiths said when asked if she was satisfied with Romney's answer. "He told me the way his son shows support for our military and our nation is to buy a Winnebago and ride across Iowa and help him get elected."

Romney needs to start a truth squad of his own to defend himself and his family against this filth and trash.

I agree. They could set us all straight about his sacrifices and how he's being unfairly persecuted and what a great family he has, and how it's totally unfair that people hate him. And it's all because of his Mormonism if they do, not his liberal, big-government policies...

Oh goodness. From the looks of all of the rabidly pro-Romney posts, it seems that he may already have a truth squad, doesn't it?

There’s no mountains in Oklahoma, dude.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oklahoma#Topography

"Oklahoma has four primary mountain ranges"

Pictures at link.

Now, please don't make fun of my freeper page for lack of a better argument. I'm like super-sensitive, I may cry.

We’re debating mountains. Great. I’ve lived in Colorado. Those are mountains. Oklahoma, not so much.

Perhaps you could direct me to an Oklahoma ski resort? It would save me the travel.

Your quibble seems to be with the dictionary not me.

“Mountains” doesn’t only mean “really big mountains with ski resorts”.

That’s the common parlance for “mountains”, despite your quibbling over semantics.

Now, can you direct me to an Oklahoma ski resort?

"That’s the common parlance for “mountains”"

Then how come come the smaller mountains in Oklahoma you don't think are good enough aren't called "hills"?

Now, can you direct me to an Oklahoma ski resort?

Possibly there is one between your ears. ;)

You got caught in a lie (or just plain ignorant comment), buster, and you’re now trying to weasel your way out of it. You were the one that said there were no mountains in OK. I’ve been to those mountains in OK. The Talimena Parkway follows along the top of the Winding Stairs and I travelled to the top of one in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge. Next time you make a comment on any subject, you should do some research first.

‘We had a true Conservative in Tom McClintock, but you and your liberal RINO Country-Clubbers choose to SABOTAGE any Conservative GOP candidates. You did it to him in 1994, you did it to him again in 2002, in the 2003 recall, again in 2006, and you tried so VERY hard to bloody him up so he couldn’t win a safe Congressional seat in 2008, but he escaped your sabotage on that last one. ‘

What are you talking about? I support Republicans of different backgrounds if you look at my profile page. I usually vote a straight Republican ticket.

McClintock lost because he is not good enough to win statewide considering the demographics of the state. Even in 1994 ( a very good year for Republicans) McClintock lost. Stop blaming others for someone running a poor campaign.

‘But you already know that, since you’re doing your part on FR to badmouth and undermine Conservative candidates.’

You are delusional. Name any conservative candidate I have badmouthed here. Apart from Tancredo ( for his remarks in Miami), I have not said anything against conservatives in general.

"What are you talking about? I support Republicans of different backgrounds if you look at my profile page. I usually vote a straight Republican ticket."

Don't play dumb, Greg. You support liberals. You then trot out the trolling mechanism employed by liberals, "Conservatives can't win." I cite how your liberals sabotage Conservatives and you go into denial. McClintock was a perfect example of the liberal RINOs favorite target in CA, and I cited Schundler in NJ sabotaged by the same group of party-killing RINO weasels. Of course you're "happy" to support a straight Republican ticket when it's full of liberals. I don't vote for liberals on any ticket, Greg, especially on the Republican one.

"McClintock lost because he is not good enough to win statewide considering the demographics of the state. Even in 1994 ( a very good year for Republicans) McClintock lost. Stop blaming others for someone running a poor campaign."

Bull$hit, Greg. Why don't you go look up his performance in 2002 ? The HIGHEST vote-getter of ANY Republican running statewide. The demographics crack is garbage, Greg. Fact is, McClintock was the biggest threat to the big-spending RINO establishment in CA. He was a threat to the RINO Wilson, who sandbagged him in '94, and he was an even bigger threat to that Socialist monster Ah-nold, who was more than happy to see Garamendi win the Lt Governorship, who was much closer to his leftist ideals. He made sure he'd lose that race, and recruited the rich liberal Doug Ose to undermine him last year in the Congressional race.

Fact is, Greg, McClintock is the singlemost qualified individual in the state of California deserving of the office of Governor, bar none. But you liberals in the GOP do all you can to make sure ACTUAL fiscal Conservatives (nevermind Social Conservatives) are run out before they can make it to the primary, or work overtime, if they somehow get the nomination, to make sure the Democrat wins come November. Congrats, Greg, I'm sure you're very proud of helping elect liberal Democrats on the GOP ticket, but don't try to play the victim and act all indignant when you and your RINO buddies get caught personally inserting the knife in the back of good people like McClintock and turn around and blame him for pushing himself into the blade. Please, spare me.

Romney can't win.

Sarah Palin can win. The left knows it, that's why they are after her.

Now it's a question of how much help the dems will receive from Romney's people to destroy her candidacy- And how much more of a disaster another 4 years of Obama will be.

Romney had his chance, he lost.

If the GOP has any concern for our nation, (or whatever is left of it in '12)- they better unite and back someone who can actually win the race.
