Well, finally you admit that MR is not a conservative at his core but has to phony up that aspect to run as a viable candidate.

I admitted no such thing, and have no way of knowing who is a conservative at their core. All politicians parse their words and don't always reveal all their personal beliefs. All a voter can do is decide how they think a candidate will govern, and the past is not always prologue.

And, there are still issues which Sarah has not spelled out any specific policy for.

Tonight’s Sean Hannity program heard it from her own two lips.

Only a week ago he gave an A+ to his Romneycare plan in MA... the one that is helping bankrupt the state.

Romney Gives Mass. Health Reform An 'A' [praises Romney Care, says it's time to go nationwide]

07/09/2009 6:05:03 PM PDT · by rabscuttle385 · 252 replies · 4,473+ views

Key Romney quote on his signature Massachusetts government health care plan:

“It’s working like we had hoped it would work."

Also from the article:

"Romney said the same can be done nationwide..."

"He did insist, however, that on a national level politicians ought to be able to create a system where every citizen has health insurance."

Please cease and desist apologizing for RINOs and their acts of treachery.

I haven't written one word defending Mitt's record as governor. I ignore it.

There's an awful lot to ignore:

Instituted gay marriage, contrary to his sworn oath as Governor to uphold the constitution.

Completely homosexualized state government and the public schools, fulfilling his promises to the radical gay activists who endorsed and supported him for Governor.

Promoted and passed socialized medicine, complete with taxpayer-funded abortions.

Signed a permanent "assault" weapons ban, while issuing statements that could have come out of the mouth of any of the Democrat party's worst enemies of the Right to Keep and Bear Arms.

And that's just for starters.

Romney was the most liberal Governor in the history of this republic.

Someone needs to send this to Ann Coulter, she clearly didn’t see this and in her defense of him on Hannity tonight stated that the only thing she wanted to hear was him to walk back his MA-Care program and admit it was a mistake.... why are all these people so darned uninformed when they go on national TV?

I basically ignore Mitt's record in Mass. because I don't think it tells us how he'd govern as president

How convenient.

So, pray tell, then, what record should we use to judge Romney by? Or should we just unquestioningly believe whatever he says, like good little sheeple?

Only a week ago he gave an A+ to his Romneycare plan in MA... the one that is helping bankrupt the state.

And how critical will that event be in 2012? Like all politicians, he's defending a past policy.

What grade do you think W would give No Child Left Behind, and his Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit? Did you support those big spending programs which are helping to bankrupt the USA?

Voters have to decide how they believe a candidate would govern in the future, and all this hand wringing over past policies is mostly a waste of time.

She sold out to the Slick One early on, it’s too bad. She’s thoroughly destroyed her reputation and credibility by becoming just like those Bubba Clintoon kneepadder types she used to make fun of.

I’m in it. Proudly. One of those states where the Tenth Amendment means something.

Until Mitt "Mandates" Romney gets ahold of it.

Like all politicians, he's defending a past policy.

He's defending a bad policy.

He's defending a decidedly non-conservative policy.

He's defending an appendage of Big Government that he himself was at the forefront of creating.

I don't care whether a policy is past, present, or future. If it's bad, i.e., not in line with conservative principles of small and limited Constitutional government, and you defend it, I will attack you.

So, pray tell, then, what record should we use to judge Romney by?

Evaluate policy positions of candidates as they run for an office, decide how you think they'd govern.

You would have been sliming Reagan in the early '70s based on his record as governor of California. Candidates change from state to national campaigns. Records in states often don't mean that much when a candidate jumps to a national campaign:

Regan and all his liberal policies in California mentioned in the Laffer interview.

Pro-life and pro-gun Bill Clinton in Arkansas.

Pro-life and pro-gun Algore in Tennessee.

Pro-life and anti-voodoo economics GHWB in the 1980 Republican primary.

Quite a few of you need to stop living in the fantasy world where politicians maintain the same philosophies and policy positions throughout long political careers. It seldom happens.
