HI, I know there is nothing openly discussed in the press, but I vaguely recall earlier in Gw's term some opinions that talked about (if he got a second term, and had senate majority) to rebuild/repair IRS, Social Security,Medicare, and NEA??? My son (and others) are threatening, like many on this board, to vote third party (shudder/think clinton), and want to know what hope we can give them that GW will be able to, if he gets a third term and has filibuster-proof Senate. I know there is nothing to document(???) along these lines, but does anyone recall some discussions earlier about these subjects?

I need some simple ideas to present to family regarding this hope, not to "give up" on GW after what a grand job he has done, even though some things appear not conservative, mainly high spending, open borders. Myself am willing to give him the chance, feel secure that he will make a better America, but need to convince others of this. He will be fighting so many evil lib attacks, added onto those already, daily.

Good luck getting his speech and the empty judicial benches off of their minds.

Wasn't the second term supposed to be all about the Supreme Court? This is a difficult argument to raise, considering that Estrada just backed out.

Are there plans to reduce taxes even further?

Sad that Estradfa backed out, wonder why, but hopefully there are other candidates waiting in the wings.

This means to post a reply so it will jump to the top of the forum so more people will see it and respond. Consider this my ``bump.''

The last poll (within past few weeks) I saw showed Dubya had 87-88% job approval rating with Republicans, and over 60% with independents. He's doing fine, and at this point in time I'd be shocked if he didn't win re-election. I'm positive you'll see Soc Security privatization/reform on the plate in his second term, as well as a continuation in this critical war on terrorism. And hopefully he'll even have another tax cut up his sleeve.

Optimism? If he went that far left knowing he'd face re-election, how far left do you think he'll go in his last 4? I'm not optimistic.

Speculation by the hopeful conservatives.

I do not believe our president has any interest in limiting the size and scope of government.
