A Freeper's Observation. A Non-Recommendation for education.

HOWDY FREEPERS!!!!!!

As those who know me are well aware, I'm a life long resident of Southwest Oklahoma. I know the people of this area very well as I was born and raised here.

One of the things I always try to do is promote some of the good things about this region that I know and love so much. Things like Ft. Sill, the Chisolm Trail, the Wichita Mountains, etc.

However, there are a few things that I sometimes have to recommend against. For the simple reason that my principles come first in terms of loyality ahead of other stuff like the place I've lived in all my life.

That place is Cameron University.

When my dad graduated in the 1940's the main focus was on education. At the time it was an aggie university.

I've started to notice however that the place had deveoped a prejudice against conservatives and chrsitians.

The professor of politics tried to get the Lawton Constitution to drop Walter Williams colum simply beacuase he was "too conservative for the mainstream. I've also seen where some Bill Clinton butt kissing perverts who write regularly to this newspaper have given this professor and the university a ringing endorsment, I guess because they think their viewpoints are neutral and they're in the majority which is a lie and they know it.

But yesterday on KSWO'TV's Good Morning Texoma, I saw in their community calander where Cameron's theater department is going to present a play badmouthing my favorite radio format, conservative talk radio.

Now, I ask you. Is this the kind of school you want to take your kids to? A place which mistreats conservatives and bad-mouths everything they stand for.

Folks, Southwest Oklahoma is a conservative majority region of the country. The vast majority of us in this region voted for George W. Bush in 2000 and for Right to Work last year. I can assure you that Cameron University with it's liberal mindset DOES NOT reflect the ideas or values that Southwest Oklahoma represents.

There are far better places to attend college after you get out of high school like Oklaoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma of the Nazerine in Bethany, or you could try a home college course from places like Liberty University in Virginia. The list goes on and on.

The moral of this story is you don't need a college degree from a Democrat butt-kissing university to get a job or launch a career. Anybody that says otherwise is an idiot.

The bottom line, if you're looking for a college to university and you're a conservative or christian, Cameron University is not the place for you. There are far better places to attend college.

Being here in Central Oklahoma, I have never heard of Cameron University, but we have only been here since September of 2000. I have always thought it funny that the two colleges here in Shawnee are OBU and St. Gregory's (the Baptists and the Catholics). OBU seems to turn out some good students and has a nice campus. St. Gregory's (excuse my pro-Catholic bias here) has a beautiful monastery and a great president, not to mention a nice art museum. Both are small colleges, but are big contributors to our community and reflect Oklahoma conservatism well.

As soon as I can go back for my MBA, I will be attending Southern Nazarene Univ. I heard recently that they have a Tulsa branch, so I am set. The alternative was Tulsa U, where they are building a Mosque on campus.

Thanks E.G.C.

Unfortunately the same came be said for the State Universities here in Oregon. We can't even claim to be a Conservative State because of the tree huggers and liberals of the Willamette Valley. It's a shame becasue this is such a beautiful State.

For better places to attend college, look into Hillsdale in Michigan. A safer place for people who want to learn to think for themselves.

Just curious, since I host a talk show in Oklahoma City... what's the name of the play they're putting on?

Hey, Cam. Great to hear from you. You guys do a real good job up there.

The name of the play is "Tlakradio". If I remember my recollection they said that it was about "a caustic talk host who gets more than he bargained for."

The impression I got was that all conservative talk radio is caustic. That's sterotyping in my opinion.

Cam, do you work with Jerry Bohnen? How is his son doing? I was on the basketball team in HS with John and knew he went to West Point.

I received something of an education near Lawton, OK. It was Artillery OCS at Ft. Sill. I have a fondness for Oklahoma. The girls there are even prettier than they are in Texas or California.

Number 3, of my great laments in life, is that I am not from Oklahoma, but California. No.1, is that I was born too late to fly with the "Eagle Squadrons" in WWII and No. 2 is that I am too big to be a jockey.

Regards, Oklahoma, Buck.

You're right about that. The grils in Oklahoma are indeed prettier her than anyplace else.

Thanks everybody for your participation in this thread. I'm going to walk out the door in about an hour from now and get this morning's edition of the Lawton Constitution.

Just to clarify a few things, the play "Talkradio" is actully being put on by Blue Moon Productions. They're beginning auditions Monday at Cameron University so it seems like they still have some sort of a role in this.

Based on the recommendations of a freeper on this thread I will recommend OBU and St. Gregory's in Shawnee.
Incidintally isn't that where our current govenor Brad Henry is from.

Here is some more information from the Lawton Constitution on "Talkradio'.

Audtions are Monday in the communication building at Cameron. They're going to perform this play at the Great Plains auditorium.

The play tells the story of Barry Champlain, a fictional talk radio host in Cleveland whose local call-in showis about to be syndicated nationally, if he can impress the new producers.

And according to the article this production contains mature language and content.

Pretty interesting stuff.

I graduated from ORU in Tulsa. What about Phillips Univ. in Enid? Any good? I believe it's affiliated with the same denominiation as the little college in the town in which I now live, which may not be much of a recommendation, but I don't know what its reputation may be within OK.
