In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

I have a bad memory and I was too lazy to look. I guess you noted that it is a rare Mexican Lab.

I saw an older lady at the park walking two of your little doggies(KCCS) and when I said "Hi little spaniels" she said "They're King Charles cavalier spaniels". I already knew that but it sounded less pretentious to just say hi little spaniels. Promise me you won't get snotty if you get a foo-foo dog.Sounds something like a neighbor from my old apartment building. She had one of those tiny, yappy dogs that jump on everyone and that she refused to leash or take charge of -- and we lived in a no-pets building.
Well, I got sick and tired of the hairy little rodent attaching itself to my legs and ruining stockings, and finally spoke up to the bitch (the owner, that is). I looked right at her and said "Please get it off my leg."
Her genious response was "He's harmless."
"I don't recall asking if it's harmless or not, but I do remember asking you nicely to get it the hell off my leg."
She just stood there staring at me, so I kindly informed her that if she didn't remove it, I was going to punt it across the street. Not that I'd ever actually harm or punish a dog for its idiot owner's stupidity, but she didn't know that.
The next time the hairball came lunging at me, she sighed loudly as she got it off me, as if it was such a big effort for her. At that point, I smiled and helpfully offered that she might consider a leash. She literally sniffed as said "He's not a leash dog!"
My reply? Another broad smile and "I wasn't talking about the dog!"

Last time I saw that dog, it was stuck with Sarah Jessica "My-relatives-need-government-handouts-because-I'm-a-cheap-bitch" Parker's empty skull on top of its neck. Poor little tyke.

That woman needs a leash. And a beating or two to ensure the message sinks in.

I know you're not being snotty.
I had nothing but breeder bred pure breds when I was growing up and my parents and grandparents were forever at the vets with those dogs.
Other than regular visits for shots, etc - I can only think of 2 vet bills I have had in 20 years of having dogs from a shelter or an ad in the paper.

Fireworks are really dangerous. But when you consider the number sold and used versus the number of accidents. They are probably safer than hairdryers.

Well, yes, that was what I was saying to her -- that she was the one who needed a leash. The look on her face when the realization hit her was just *priceless*. ;)

I don't know what I'm going to tell her or even when she is going to get one.
The SPCA never called me today to give me further information and unless I hear from them tomorrow it will be Saturday before I will even be able to get back there.
I even had hubby go get me every even closely local paper he could find this morning so I could see if there was anything in th classifieds.
If he's working in Delware tomorrow, I'm going to send him to the SPCA we always dealt with there.
She's been promised a puppy since the one died back in February.

I can spot an eye for composition in the way you post. Well other than passing CJ's hairy white legs framing cute lab pups. But you didn't shoot the pic.

Good for you. I sometimes wonder why relentlessly snooty people don't realize how snooty they are. Too self-centred, I guess.

And you're probably right.
Don't get me wrong - I've got nothing against firworks.
As bad as someone getting hurt or worse from stupidity, in this case it seems that everything was on the up and up and being handled in a professional manner. Which truly makes it an accident.
