Today is my Birthday
One small Voice
Posted on 05/15/2003 9:30:00 AM PDT by 1smallVoice
Today is my birthday. Although I am trying not to think about it, it is difficult because 50 years ago today I was born. All my family is dead or MIA and I have no friends who care. My two kids will take me see the Matrix Reloaded this weekend.
Birthday's suck because you get to see just how unimportant you really are.

Birthday's suck because you get to see just how unimportant you really are.First of all, birthdays beat the alternative, and second, you can make a difference, even a small one, that resonates well into the future.

There are probably lots of places where you could be important. Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday! Did my own half-century last November. It's just a number, but it does give you a perspective. At our age, Mozart had been dead for 21 years. So no matter what your productivity has been the last couple of decades, you've done better than one of the greatest geniuses in history.

Happy Birthday.

If this is a serious post, I must say that if I were your children, I'd be a bit upset to hear you say that all your family is dead.

Happy Birthday to you!
And many more...
I'm sure that made you feel better. Look at it this way, at least you get to go see The Matrix Reloaded. I'm driving all the way to Dallas tomorrow night to see it. Yea!!

Another blessing for you to count...
You're younger than I am and, with two kids, you have two more family members than I do. :-)

Birthday's suck because you get to see just how unimportant you really are. With a very few exceptions, all of us are unimportant. Utterly and profoundly so. Imagine, if you will, how many of us will be remembered in the smallest way 100 years from now. I know that I won't be.
Enjoy the moment. After watching Matrix, go out and get a cake, put a candle on it, and overeat. Hey, it works for me!

Hey, 1smallvoice - it's probably an important realization that we are nothing. (Remember, God chooses the weak things of this world to confound the wise.)
I too have a b'day this month. The only folks who will remember are those still living in my household. Hang in there....and happy birthday.
