But, I would agree with Sam. Matching politics is not one of the requirements I have in who I like... My friends don't have matching politics, and I hardly think most of the artists I like do.
I guess how much it affects me depends on whether their political interest is a side issue or a main part of their art, and whether their attitude is a positive one, or a negative one. Jimmy Buffet is a fun guy I would love to be around. Michael Moore would be a butt-head at any party.
I still like actors and singers who, if asked probably don't vote the same way I do. Hell, I love the Beatles peace movement songs... but when the actor is so forward that they come off as "love me, love my politics!" then they are taking a risk.

Sorry....I was a bit vague.....RT is Richard Thompson, folk rock, brilliant, and he responded to some crowd remarks by saying basically "I wouldn't want your bloke....he can't even string a coherent sentence together!" Not a huge transgression, I just feel really fragilethese days, you know??
