I went to the "hiwire" companies website. It said it wasn't spy-ware but was created to get around some kind of strange radio union/advertising law. And supposedly, that’s all it does.
I guess it blocks the advertising from the radio station and replaces it with their own.
It looks like all of the radio stations are going that rout so I might have to give it a try.
