The black helicopters belong to the alphabet police of the federal government (FBI, BATF, INS, DEA, etc.) and some state national air guard units. They are usually unmarked and when they first showed up in the skys several years ago, people wanted to know about them.

I agree, I am willing to bet that 99% of those sightings were by people who never saw a helicopter up close in real life, and were standing in light that was a sillouette.

That, or the paint job was a darker green, almost black I have seen some Army versions have. Real faded olive

Yes, and I think there is a US Army, Special Forces Unit called DELTA, which also uses those types of helicopters for military use.
