My supervisor at work started out as an x-ray tech at Children's Hospital in Detroit. Those were her exact same words. After a year, she transferred to the ER at Detroit Receiving. She said it was much easier dealing with the daily shootings, stabbings, car wrecks, and drug overdoses.
We had to go through the NICU at Children's for the Y2K upgrade. Not a guy among us who didn't get the sniffles and runny eyes. But she said that was a good sign, because we were soft-hearted and would make good fathers. My walks through the morgues and working operating rooms were nowhere near that hard.
