No. Steinbrenner thinks that as owner he should do what he can to give the Yankees the best chance to win.
They go out and grab up whomever is available whether they need them or not. Their strategy is to suck the air out of baseball's players market, denying competitors the services of needed players.
Ridiculous. If that were true they would have Scott Rolen and Jeff Kent right now. The Yankees go out and get guys that will help them win.

Again, ridiculous, but at least close to reality. The major problem in baseball is between large market and small market teams. Something needs to be done to make it more fair. Salary cap, or luxury tax, or revenue sharing (probably the best option.) But you can't blame George for doing what he can to win. What's he supposed to do? Not try?
