My favorite of all time? Monty Python's Flying Circus.

The legendary Killer Joke sketch from the first aired episode literally redefined excellence in TV comedy, IMHO. I still laugh out loud thinking about it. :-)

Monty Python? Uneven, but skits were hysterical. Remember the one where they were dreeded in drag, waiting for the ferry to France to see Jean Paul Sartre?
When a late arrival was asked why "she" was late, the reply was "I had to bury the cat."
"Why did that take so long?"
"Cat wasn't dead yet."
