I've been wondering about that myself. I think the poor man of Gondor has flights of fancy from time to time and, depending on whom he thinks is overhearing him, alternately bashes elves and dwarves. This has been troubling me greatly since the outrageous snowpants and galoshes accusations leveled at Gimli. (The great dwarf lawyer Joni Kokrin made a mockery of those baseless charges with his famous "If the galoshes don't fit, you must acquit" line), but nevertheless, some therapy and analysis is called for here, don't you think?
