Half a year before the French presidential election, Marine Le Pen threatens Germany with a fiscal campaign. Le Pen's attempt to turn France's domestic fragmentation into its neighbor's problem even before the vote could smother the national-conservative turn in the EU in the bud.
They once formulated great goals, the representatives of the rising political right in the EU. They envision a common protection of the external borders, a kind of Fortress Europe, to meet the growing migration pressure late, but still effectively. The realization: you cannot leave states like Spain or Greece alone with the mess made by the globalists. Spain's Ceuta was probably the most striking spectacle in recent times of the failure of placebo institutions like Frontex and of Europe's hot-air politics on external border protection.
Europe's right, from the Rassemblement National led by Marine Le Pen, through Giorgia Meloni's Fratelli d'Italia, all the way to Germany's AfD, is united by the desire for internal and external security in common, for a return to national sovereignty and the responsibility of politics for itself. And, as they all always declared: an end to Brussels' great climate crusade, to the destructive Green Deal.
Marine Le Pen, France's most promising candidate for the presidency, built her campaign on these core themes of the European right. There can be no doubt about that.
But France's domestic problems are pressing: its cultural fragmentation and rioting migrant milieus make the country an all but unreformable debt behemoth, taking on almost six percent in new debt this year and pushing ahead of itself a debt mountain of over 120 percent of GDP. It cannot go on like this. Marine Le Pen knows it too, and at the end of last week pointed to first solutions to the debt debacle.

They always run out of other people’s money.
Specifically ours.
Most correct.
Actually, the country which is running fastest out of other people money is the good USA.
Our debt and it’s rise comparing to GDP is a lot worse than that of France.
Call her Le Pence. She’s part of the plot.
I am hoping that Le Pen is just saying nice things about Muslims to prevent Macron’s party from attempting the usual “cordon sanitaire” effort to block her from becoming President.
This is no different from Germany's screwing over Poland to get gas through Nordstream, bypassing pipelines running through Poland and Ukraine.
And you can't argue against the "green" nuttery because it's a substitute religion. I got a German really made at me once for telling him they were building wind farms for the same reason his ancestors built cathedrals: piety. They even have indulgences, aka carbon credits.
“Our debt” is mostly the fraud plus overt monies sent overseas. As we stop USAID and combat fraud all the places that relied on Uncle Sugar falter.
“I am hoping that Le Pen is just saying nice things about Muslims to prevent Macron’s party from attempting the usual ‘cordon sanitaire’ effort to block her from becoming President.”
I’ve been predicting they will bar her from office or imprison her. Maybe worse. She has to be extremely careful about what she says. And in a socialist society like France, where virtually everyone depends on the government in some fashion, any specific, constructive plans she may have are plans that will break somebody’s rice bowl.
I’m not saying she has a useful plan, just that if she does, she is taking her life and liberty in her hands if she announces it in advance. And in my view, the future of France depends on her life and liberty.
Exactly right. She is taking it on the chin from conservative social media for it, but it will win her needed points with the French deep state. Of course if she wins, God-willing, she will find it as tough as Trump's first term to make any changes at all to immigration or welfare. But it could at least slow the slide towards destruction.
The idea of trans-national nationalism is like “jumbo shrimp.”
I am glad we stopped USAID, but that is just the chomp change in the abys called US government spending.
Welfare, healthcare, and similar stuff is the biggest chunk of spending.
Trump is trying hard to address this, but he’s got log way to go!
