Woman shown in viral CRPD arrest video: 'I feel like I was targeted'

A Cedar Rapids woman believes police targeted her and another protester last week. Annya Mari said she's been protesting ICE for the past 20 years and was slammed to the ground by the Cedar Rapids Police Department outside the building where ICE check-ins are held. She was charged with harassment of a public official and interference with official acts. (snip)

Mari said she was just there to accompany migrants to their check-ins and document cars coming in and out of the building.

Video of the interaction shows CRPD claiming the advocates were obstructing government vehicles. Those standing around deny that was happening and began arguing with law enforcement. Then CRPD points to Mari and said they'll start by putting her in cuffs.

"It confirmed to me that the way that they show up for ICE is so, so aggressive and personal and I do believe I was targeted," Mari said. "I feel like I was targeted as well as the other person that was arrested. We were targeted. We were being made examples of so that the loud mouths of the protestors would stop showing up."

Cedar Rapids (Iowa) probably needs a DOGE-style proctological exam for illegals and scams (think “learing centers”). Lots of overseas wire transfer services, “African” and “Asian” retailers, etc... Des Moines and Dubuque aren’t any better, but acquiantences from CR tell me that CR now is rife with the seriously insane leftism that used to be largely confined to Iowa City.

I vaguely recalled the agency being renamed and looked it up. But WHO was worried about illegals and protesting the enforcement agency 20 years ago? Smells like BS.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was created on March 1, 2003, as part of the new Department of Homeland Security after the 9/11 attacks.

• It combined interior immigration enforcement and investigative functions from the former Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) and the U.S. Customs Service.
• The Homeland Security Act of 2002 originally called for a “Bureau of Border Security.” A January 2003 plan renamed it the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement before it opened.
• On March 31, 2007, it was renamed U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (still abbreviated ICE).

Related functions went to other new agencies: Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). The INS was abolished.

So it HAS been called "ICE" for 19 years now! Time flies when we are having fun keeping islamists and terrorists out of the country.
