Watch: 600+ Crocodiles Infest River to Host Brisbane 2032 Olympic Rowing
Breitbart ^ | September 18, 2026 | Simon Kent

The land Down Under is known for hosting any number of creatures great and small that can kill you. Rowers competing at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games will face that challenge after their event was approved Thursday for the waters of the Fitzroy River which hosts more than 600 saltwater crocodiles.

That’s not all.

Lethal Australian box jellyfish have also been found found near the mouth and tidal saltwater sections of the central Queensland river’s waters in the past. Add bull sharks and deadly snakes amongst its potential lethal predators in the water and along the banks.

Not that any of those are concerns for the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In six years’ time, the 2032 Brisbane Olympics and Paralympics are set to stage rowing and canoe sprint events in this very stretch of water, the BBC reports, which has just passed a technical IOC-endorsed assessment and been endorsed as safe and fair for athletes.

Having reviewed the assessment, World Rowing president Jean-Christophe Rolland and Paddle Worldwide president Thomas Konietzko endorsed the waterway.

The ABC reports Rolland said it could provide a safe, fair and consistent field of play suitable for Olympic and Paralympic rowing and canoe sprint competitions.

Even the cute platypus is poisonous (venomous?) in Australia.

Ah yeah, the platypus. A creature designed by committee.

Wow this is a really early start to “the Olympics are going to be a disaster”. This is 6 years out, it’s not even the next Olympics. Must be bored.

I hate the platypus. A mammal that lays eggs just isn't right.

I believe that the animals of this world were designed by God to be beautiful to Him. But boy, He sure went extra wacky when it came to populating Australia.

Depth charges.

How about another DEI ship captain to head up the elimination of crocs? You know, like the one who sank their newest frigate ‘cause she couldn’t pay attention to her driving.

Oh, and this is not a unique phenom. The Ms river now has sharks waaaaay upstream where the water is not even brackish.

Australia is replete with things that want to kill you. They even have quite a few moozlums there now.

Bull Sharks can survive in fresh water. We get them in Florida rivers from time to time.........

This is fantastic premise for a really-bad Animal Horror movie.

Lots of places are replete with things that want to kill you. And yet sporting events happen anyway. And the vast majority of the time nothing happens. The Fitzroy River is one of Australia’s most popular sport fishing areas, has a large fishing competition every year, regularly hosts state rowing competitions, regattas, and is the training ground for national rowing teams. And has crocs. Some how, I think things will be fine.

Potentially the worst Australian Olympic disaster since Rachel "Raygun" Gunn and her zero point break dancing routine.

Maybe not. 600 crocs coming after you is a pretty good motivator................
