Trump Says AI Doesn’t Need More Guardrails And Calls Safety Fears a Hoax

President alleges that a conspiracy is undermining support for AI and data centers as industry leaders raise alarms about the technology’s risks

President Trump pushed back on the need for tighter federal regulations on artificial intelligence and dismissed safety concerns as a hoax that would leave the industry in financial ruin and hand China a competitive edge.

The president’s forceful messaging on AI comes as industry leaders sound increasingly urgent warnings about the need for regulation to guard against potential dangers from their own technology, while public backlash builds to the construction of the data centers needed to power it.

“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Monday. “There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and Data Centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China.”

In a separate post, he later questioned why industry leaders were calling for regulation, which he said could “drive them into oblivion and bankruptcy.” He likened worries about AI’s safety risks to the allegations that underpinned impeachment proceedings during his first term, “and all of the other HOAXES and SCAMS that America was forced to endure through the Destructions’ and Deviants’ foul play and illegal conduct.”

The president’s position on AI and data centers contrasts with how many voters feel about the issue heading into the midterms. A March Gallup poll showed that nearly half of those surveyed “strongly oppose” the construction of local AI data centers. And the opposition isn’t just coming...

I now think “AI” is meaningless.

Possible threats from big time computing are surveillance and weapons guidance.

The AI part is just a bunch of software weenies (I am one) banging in source code.

Its why Obama is declaring that Democrats must make “AI” an election issue

“Guardrails” means putting Democrats and their allied (and govt funded) NGOs in positions of power over AI companies.

Good point.

We get our choice between the frying pan (total surveillance and total control from private corporations who hate us) and the fire (total surveillance and total control from a Democrat controlled government that hates us).

You mean the guys that are making the most money off of it right? Time to clamp down on anybody who might attempt to innovate who isn't them.

I don’t agree the fears are entirely a hoax. AI poses some threats that are very real.

However, I agree we don’t need guardrails (regulations).

Government regulatory agencies always get hijacked and exploited by corporate monopolies to protect them from competition. Smaller companies can’t afford teams of highly paid lobbyists and compliance litigators.

It reality, it is market competition not regulations that hold corporations in check. Without competition, there is nothing to hold the big corporations accountable.

Global warming, bioweapons labs, covid, and other government sponsored nonsense is on schedule to kill us off first. Once that happens, I’ll think about my AI induced extermination.

He's right.

1. The Anthropic and Open AI "fears" are a combo of hyping up their own products' "power" to boost IPO prospects. And indeed, there is ample proof the Open AI story about a "rogue" agent that went nuts was fake.

2. The media-and-Democrat-driven anti-data center "movement" is a Chinese psy-op to weaken us.

“I don’t agree the fears are entirely a hoax. AI poses some threats that are very real.”

Same with nuclear weapons, invented in 1945, used to end WW II, and haven’t been used in conflict since, not even by North Korea.

Democrats want to make AI an issue in the midterms because they dont want to make TRANS MEN IN GIRLS LOCKER ROOMS and ILLEGAL ALIENS committing HUGE GOVERNMENT FRAUD and KILLING US CITIZENS the main issues.

Pretty much.
I don't trust Open AI at all.
Anthropic? Just a bit.

Yup.
Its like another Covid scare for the Democrats in 2020 elections.
Its not going to work mostly because Dems don't control Twitter/X anymore.

AI needs to be under human oversight. But I do not have any faith in Congress’ ability to regulate AI. They would just screw it up.
