A few months after 9/11, freeper Starrgaizr took it upon himself/herself to collect the links to the many threads that were posted on this site on that day, from the first post about the first plane that crashed into the World Trade Center, on through into the night.
Here are the Free Republic threads from September 11, 2001.
Some of you may recognize many of the names on these posts. They are part of real world history, frozen in cyberspace and time, a memorial to what happened on that day as we saw it on this site.

Resurfaced 2001 clip shows Trump’s reaction to 9/11 tragedy: ‘I hope we attack fast’
Perhaps the most important Post in all of the comments and all of the threads created that day, was the one created by a free person whose name I cannot remember who within minutes said it was Osama bin laden that pulled off the attack. And he was right. I’ve lost my bookmark to that post which I maintained for so many years, I’m hoping someone remembers that post and can find it quicker than I can.
I wish there was a TV channel somewhere that would just show everything like it was live. Just show CBS, Fox or anything like it was that day.
There are lots of videos on YouTube that play back the news coverage as it happened.
Going through a few of the threads, I’m seeing lots of memorable FReepers from long ago who have not posted in years. Probably many of them have departed from this life but left their mark forever on Free Republic.

I was 1 year old on 9/11... Today, our kids will be listening to Rush’s radio broadcast from that day...
I learned of 9/11 from FR while sitting in my home office. Pretty soon I was running back and forth from my home office to the TV down the hall in the bedroom. Later in the AM I got a long piece of coax cable which I ran down the hall from the bedroom to the office, and moved the TV to the office so I could watch it and read updates from FR.
I know a little about office occupancy and people densities. I did some early math and came up with some huge potential casualty numbers. We really lucked out it happened relatively early morning and for a variety of reasons many people weren’t in the office yet. We could have had 2X-5X the casualties.

Ooh. Family member of one of the victims in NYC just lambasted the ‘leaders’ in attendence re: Saudi Arabia. Bet W. was seething. Another speaker just praised Vance.
Reading those old threads, I find it interesting to click on the posters to see who is gone, who was banned and who is still present.

MouthOfSouth, not just my landlady but a dear friend and wonderful person altogether, passed away in the spring of 2006.
I was at work at the machine shop, listening on my headset radio. I was listening to WLS in Chicago. Don Wade and Roma were on the air, and stayed on for some hours after their program ended. No one I worked with had a decent working radio so I was giving updates to everyone. As the morning went by, we were all in shock, I think.
