A Minnesota State Fairgoer was savagely attacked by a group of “young men” who fractured his jaw in multiple places — turning his night out with friends into a “hellish nightmare,” his fianceé claimed.
Sammy Kimbrough, 45, was left in critical condition and needed emergency reconstructive surgery Saturday night after the brutal assault that knocked him unconscious and left him bloodied at the annual event in St. Paul, Minn.
“Last night, Sammy was brutally assaulted by a group of young men in a completely senseless act of violence,” Kimbrough’s fianceé Heather Hoffman wrote on Facebook Sunday.
“Anyone who knows Sammy knows that he is one of the most laid-back, kind-hearted, and non-confrontational men you could ever meet. This has been a lot to wrap our heads around,” Hoffman added.
Kimbrough attended the closing weekend of the state fair, which is billed as the largest in Minnesota, with friends and his soon-to-be-bride when he was attacked.
Kimbrough and two others split from the main group and were exploring the 322-acre fairground when he accidentally bumped into another person who was with a group of eight to 12 people.
“This young man ended up getting into a verbal conversation with Sammy, becoming aggressive,” Hoffman told St. Paul Pioneer Press. “Sammy had tried to say, ‘Excuse me,’ ‘Back up,’ when he then got punched.”
Kimbrough was knocked down by another person who threw a punch before more people in the group began “stomping his face into the pavement,” Hoffman said.
“What should have been an insignificant moment escalated into something unimaginable. The group attacked him, knocking him unconscious and kicking him in the face after he had fallen,” family friend Kira Roland wrote on GoFundMe.

No information provided on the attackers, or their motivation if any. If there was no motivation, then the reporter could have stated that there was no apparent motivation for the attack on him. If that was the case, that there was no motivation, then the odds go way up that it was them Yogi.

Hardly a day goes by that I don’t call upon some skill that I picked up there. Whether it’s driving a car or sizing up people. I couldn’t have purchased an education like that at any price, imo.
