There is an old Emerson, Lake, and Palmer song called "Welcome Back My Friends, To The Show That Never Ends". It is from that song that I chose the title to this thread. π It also applies to this topic, for this could have run forever.
Background: I engaged a fellow by the screen name of 'adorno', and for whatever reason, we ended up in peter-measuring contest, where he asserted that he knew more about me than I did about my chosen profession. He stated that he retired from computer development more than 20 years, whereas I am extremely current (with a AI-related job in a well-known Fortune 50 company... and am pursuing my Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in a fairly prestigious university). He related some achievements that were solid, but they were in a different era. I have similar achievements in this modern era. So, we had increasingly testy exchanges, with me with me replying manually....
...until suddenly it struck me: WHAT THE EFF AM I DOING???!? I have a 60-hour-a-week job, AND am going for my Masters, AND am remodeling a finished basement into an elegant and classy apartment with lots of extras.
So why am I not leveraging the very technology that I am skilled in???!? I then spun up a piece of software, written in Python. It is an Agentic AI program, that monitors for his replies to me (monitors every 15 min) and, using an API into ChatGPT 5.2 (accessing it using a Personal Access Token), reads his reply and refutes it thoroughly. In fact, while I was doing reasonably well until I spun this Agent up, it actually thought of a few angles I did not. It did a better job than I could do. It even produced a-href links to pertinent articles and quotations!
In order to not sound like ChatGPT's voice, I did something called RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) and fed the model megabytes of my FR posts. I told it to mimic my style. My original instruction was to refute and be a snarky bastard about it. :) Frankly, RAG might have been overkill, I might have achieved the same effect with simple document uploads... but it was megabytes of information, and I also wanted to practice RAG and Vector Databases.
Once I had trained the Agent, I programmed it to produce the text it intended to send as a response. I read each one over, made minor adjustments when necessary, and I'd approve the reply for posting.
You might rightfully ask yourself, how is this different from a typical 'bot'? Well, bots do not do an excellent job at refutation. They tend to have a selection of canned responses that they then send out. You all remember marcusmaximus? He was a bot, although occasionally a human would take control and answer. Some bots don't even respond at all, but simply post the propaganda viewpoint they wish to promote.
In time, adorno stopped touting his credentials and bragging how superior he was in O! So many ways. He started staying more focused on the philosophical and scientific definitions of 'intelligence' and 'reasoning' and the like, so I adjusted the temperature of the responses to be less snarky and more factual. (BTW, the tword'temperature' is the wrong word, because temperature in AI refers to the randomness and variation of its output. High temps give more variation/randomness, low temps do not.)
The thread in which I ran the experiment can be found here, and this is the post when I switched the bot on.
I spun up the Agent in exactly 27 minutes. It was good practice for my Masters degree. ... and I have given the AI Agent a name. It is known as AdornoAgent.... adorno, your name will be immortalized for all eternity. ππ
My experiment is concluded. I may still use the AdornoAgent, because it actually comes up with better and more comprehensive refutations... but bear in mind, I am the one that alters the response as-needed, deletes things I don't think fits, and adds points that I wanted to add. So, ultimately, the responsibility for the work is mine, augmented by LLM technology.
Now adorno, I fully expect you to say "I knew this all along, and I was just humoring you," and, "your agent did a horrible job of refuting me." But when it is nighttime, and it is dark and silent, and you are in your bed... and you are forced to confront yourself and be honest, you will have to admit that neither is true. You could scarcely tell it was automation, and it did a good enough job that you and I/Agent kept you engaged. We actually had a decent conversation (once you stood down from your claims of superiority),
To all: ENJOY! π I sure did π

PS: Sorry if I have been negligent in finding and pinging you all to AI articles. My plate is rather full!
Now that’s serious weapons-grade flamewarring!
Thanks!

I do have source code available but I want to be very selective who I give it out to. It’s a little dangerous in the wrong hands.
Did you use AI to write this post? :)
It is a Neutron Nuclear flame-war weapon. πππ
Actually, the name of the song is "Karn Evil 9, First Impression." The line you're quoting is the first line in the the second half of that song -- on vinyl, it's what you heard when you flipped it over to side two.
Yes, back in the day I was an ELP geek....
Good question! But no, I did not. π
Was the guy you where arguing with have the Freeper name “bobbyvotes”?
ELP rules! ... and I stand corrected, sir. π
No sir. It is a fellow by the name of ‘adorno’.
Is this thread yours or your RAG agent?
You have been mentioned in this article. π
Most epic troll since Lowbridge scammed the Nigerians.
You have my email...
I have to leave for a bit. Life calls!
