Linn Duachaill ("Duachall's pool") is the name of a Viking longphort near the village of Annagassan, County Louth, Ireland. The settlement was built in 841 CE, the same time as the settlement of Dubh Linn, or Dublin. In contrast to Dublin, the settlement was abandoned. .....but people still live in the town of Annagassan; and sometimes they hold a Viking Festival.
It isnt hard to figure out what happened to them once Greenland started glacierating over again.

I guess I have Viking ancestry then. My ancestors were from Scotland, Ireland, Denmark, and Wales. I traced my ancestors back to 13th century Scotland. And yes, I’m a natural redhead. My grandmother was what she called Black Irish with pale skin but with jet-black hair. My granddaughter had her DNA done and hers came back as predominately Scandinavian. She is a natural blond with blue eyes.
They heard Trump was going to buy the place and figured it would be the end of the neighborhood.

The legacy media is searching for a way to blame Trump for the disappearance of the Vikings. When they find it and put it on TV, nearly half of America will believe it.
I would suspect plenty went south and landed in North America proper and were subsumed into local Indian populations.
Fwiw, I have an Irish surname but genetically am 3/4 Scandinavian of various kinds. Literally look like a stereotype of a Viking. Red hair as a kid that turned black in puberty.
Climate changed due to all of the Viking cooking fires.
I suspect we are, too, since one of our ancestors came from the area north of Dublin. and my siblings have the strawberry blond hair that turned dark in adulthood. Never did take the DNA test, tho.

Read up on the history of the Mandan tribe of the Central plain. During Lewis & Clark’s famed expedition they spent time with the Mandans. According to their report the Madan lodges resembled inverted longboats. Among what the Mandan considered as tribal treasures were an ancient like like helmet, a war axe, and several viking coins. Several of the tribe had blonde or red hair and some members of the trible had blue eyes. Not many years later the Mandan were extinct. Over 5,000 died from smallpox.
Scandinavian DNA will almost certainly show up, and in a percentage that will be surprising. My number is something like 30%, with zero percent in the paper trail. My ancestry is mostly from the British Isles and from Germany, and it could be from either. Been in the line a very long time.

I read the Lewis and Clark expedition reports on the Mandans. Also have the book by Catlin on his visit there.
I believe he considered them descendants of, In Welsh folklore, Madoc ab Owain Gwynedd, who was a Welsh prince who sailed to the Americas in 1170AD.
