A Bronx judge found a mother of two suffering from postpartum psychosis not guilty of killing her young children in 2022 — while jurors in Massachusetts are in the middle of deliberating a similar fate for Lindsay Clancy.
Dimone Fleming, 26, was found not responsible by mental disease or defect in court on Monday for the deaths of her two children, 3-year-old Daishawn Fleming and 11-month-old Octavius Canada, at a Bronx family shelter, the New York Times reported.
On the night of the gruesome killings, Fleming was “grossly psychotic and out of touch with reality,” according to psychiatrist Dr. Eric Goldsmith.
Goldsmith, who evaluated Fleming at the request of the prosecution, said she was hallucinating, convinced that the world was coming to an end and believed a spirit had invaded her body.
Similarly, “Ms. Fleming believed her actions were necessary to protect or ‘cleanse’ her children,” according to a forensic psychiatrist report written by doctors hired by the defense.
Before the killings, Fleming had been treated at a Queens hospital for two months, where she was diagnosed with major depressive disorder and prescribed psychotropic medication, the Times reported, citing court records.
But the mother of two did not take her medication as prescribed and instead used marijuana daily — which reportedly exacerbated her mental health symptoms.
Mental examinations ordered by both the prosecution and defense determined Fleming was in a state of psychosis at the time of the bloody killings.

The devil made me do it. Case dismissed. Next.
liberal women who fought for the right to kill their babies in the womb, and now demanding the right to also be able to kill them after they are born....without consequences.
It is beginning to resemble a twilight zone script with a disasterous ending.
That can be said of every black woman I've ever met. What is society supposed to do? Tie all of their tubes?
Both women are druggies. The one in Massachusetts abused prescriptions. This post partum stuff is BS. The drugs cause mental illness.
“What is society supposed to do? Tie all of their tubes?”
Yeah.
Why, vote for free aborti.....err free “reproductive care” of course. Until age 26, when your Obamacare stops covering a needle to the back of junior’s head.
men need to choose wisely.
This was a choice.
Justice for the murdered children has clearly been ignored by the “judge” in this one ... as it is in so many trials wherein the victims are simply ignored along with “justice”.
They are mixing 2 cases, trying to justify and confuse the trial.
Head Shake.
Children are a blessing.
Yes, for some women, they have a twisted idea of what a mother normally feels for her children.
Similar to I forgot my child was in the back of the car when the temperature was 104 degrees every day.

So, they necessarily will keep her locked up in a “mental” institution. Right?
“It is beginning to resemble a twilight zone script with a disasterous ending.”
I suspect this is what will happen. A husband will ask for a divorce and the wife will kill the children. Her lawyer will use the existing case law, and she probably won’t be punished, or at most a wrist slap. Then it will happen again and again.
Recall, abortion was supposed to be safe, legal and rare. Then, because it was easier, women began using abortion rather than birth control. (In game theory, every change in the rules will be exploited to the max.) Then, abortion was allowed up until birth. The argument against abortion was originally; would you allow it a minute before birth? Then the argument would back up the abortion minute by minute and done that way, abortion made no sense. The argument has been reversed. If you can do it up until birth, why not after birth? Why not at age ten?
To save living ten-year-old children from murder may eventually require outlawing abortion entirely. But that’s only one possible outcome. As the national government starts to deal with the reality of population decline it will look at all the options. But we aren’t there yet. There are lots and lots of murders between here and there.
The mother was non-compliant with the doctors orders. Why did she hide the bodies under dirty clothes if she had cleansed them?
So - how many other children just became more likely to be victims by their “mothers”?
Also - she had a boyfriend who “fathered’ the kids - that’s a trend.
Any bets that, after 6 months of “treatment”, she is declared sane and ready for reintegration into society?
We got the bubble headed
Bleached blonde
Comes on at five
She can tell you ‘bout the plane crash
With a gleam in her eye
It’s interesting when people die
Give us dirty laundry
Can we film the operation
Is the head dead yet
You know the boys in the newsroom
Got a running bet
Get the widow on the set
We need dirty laundry
You don’t really need to find out
What’s going on
You don’t really want to know
Just how far it’s gone
Just leave well enough alone
Eat your dirty laundry
“A judge”. Does he/she not have a name?
If we are to accept the precedent that the pathology excuses the behavior, how will any alcoholic drunk driver that kills somebody ever be held legally responsible?
