Jerry Sandusky is due to return to court next month as one of his accusers is expected to recant his testimony against the former Penn State assistant football coach who was convicted of sexually abusing boys for more than a decade, according to an affidavit.
A judge scheduled an evidentiary hearing for Sept. 8 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania.
Sandusky, who is now 82, has been serving a decades-long prison sentence after he was convicted in 2012 of abusing boys.
An accuser known as Victim 10, who testified for the prosecution at Sandusky's trial, is now prepared to tell the court Sandusky did not abuse him.
Victim 10 alleges prosecutors coached him in order to steer his testimony and asked him to revisit and reframe his allegations, writing in a sworn affidavit provided to the defense that "[t]hroughout the pretrial process, I was told -- both directly and indirectly -- that trauma may have fragmented my memory, and that I could safely affirm details I did not fully recall. I was assured this was common and even expected." The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office is expected to address the allegation at September's hearing.

So we are supposed to believe someone who says they lied under oath? If Sandusky is freed, theis guy should serve the rest of his sentence. (I know that’s not the way the law works, but it should).
If he recants his testimony, is there a lawsuit big enough to handle the damage?
This 1 accuser.
Granted not a good look, but what of the others?
Because there were many others!
Prosecutorial Misconduct
I’ve seen the frequently in false memory syndrome cases where bad therapists and prosecutors programmed false memories where daughters remembered being molested by their fathers. Many innocent men went yo prison when they were innocent.
If you want to read excellent research on this subject by Elizabeth Loftus when she conducted an experiment with people who visited Disneyland. Subsequent recall, 42% remembered seeing Bugs Bunny when they attended. Bugs Bunny is Warner Bros. and would not be at Disneyland.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 9th commandment IIRC
Most people break at least 4 Commandments every day.
Sandusky’s own coaches turn him in for sodomizing children in the team shower. But it’s good this child’s testimony is reevaluated.
The real problem is that all of the other victims will probably have to be hauled in to be interviewed to discover it they also were coached on their testimony.
One tainted witness (depending on how much was false) is not going to get Sandusky a new trial IMO.
If the other victims stick to their story I don’t see this as a game changer.
The prosecutors in the case should be sanctioned if the coaching was not to accepted standards.
Didn’t Paterno’s assistant coach (I forget his name) actually witness some of the abuse?
This is a horrible situation. Everyone keep in mind that there were 10 known victims who were interviewed and estimates that Sandusky engaged in improper conduct with dozens more over the years. So one accuser recanting does not rehabilitate this man. But it does, as a prior poster noted, mean that the other victims are going to be interviewed again and have to relive the trauma and there is a slight chance that this scumbag may be let free.
Was he paid, or threatened, to change his testimony?
There was a podcast that came out 5-10 years ago where the host was an investigative journalist and he had this whole theory that the entire case against Sandusky was fake. It was whole complicated theory that had to do with Pennsylvania and National politics, federal judges, endowments, etc...
I can’t remember many of the details and only listened to a couple of the episodes in the series because it seemed too far fetched.
Now I’m second guessing myself.

One/some of the big day care abuse cases involved implanted memories in little kids. I think Janet Reno was involved in one such.
