A lot of New Yorkers seem to appreciate Amazon’s services – that is, unless you’re talking about Mayor Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic Socialists of America and a seemingly unlikely player in this clown show, the Teamsters, On The Money has learned.
There’s a good chance, I am told, that the Seattle-based e-tailing giant pulls out of New York if this gang of three (or shall we call them the three stooges) has its way and the City Council passes a local ordinance that would ban the online retailer and similar businesses from using subcontractors for its deliveries.
First, let’s be real: Amazon has become an essential utility for many New Yorkers, as it has for shoppers nationwide. It’s why even left-wing class-warfare freaks like Joy Behar of “The View” profess “love” for the online retailer, even if she disdains its billionaire founder Jeff Bezos for, well, being a billionaire.
One lefty gripe is that Bezos should pay more taxes, even as he employs over 1 million Americans. Another is that Amazon is using small businesses that employ gig workers to deliver its packages.
There are about 40 small businesses who perform this task in NYC. They pay decent wages to their workers and are required to provide healthcare. But they’re not unionized, which somehow makes it exploitative. That makes Mayor Mamdani a hater, ditto for his fellow travelers in the DSA and now the Teamsters.
Full disclosure: I’m a supporter of unions, the son of a union ironworker. I grew up with my fair share of Teamsters, and know the typical blue-collar political archetype. It veers between center left and center right but comes nowhere close to the DSA lunatic fringe.

Hmmm. My daughter lives in NYC and on a daily basis, her apartment building lobby is piled with deliveries from Amazon. Multiply that by the thousands, hundreds of thousands, millions of New Yorkers who would no longer have the convenience of Amazon deliveries, and you might just smother the DSA in its crib.
Didn’t AOC stop a planned Amazon warehouse in her district?
Those 40 or so small businesses delivering for Amazon are likely not helping to fill RAT coffers and must pay!

Makes perfect sense- force the workers to unionize, then dues flow to the unions and the politicians. If they won’t unionize, drive them out.

Amazon management (I don’t think Bezos himself is running anything anymore other than maybe his $300 million yacht) is a greedy company and leftist just like Google. So they will try to cut a deal with the lunatic left to stay in New York City. You’re not talking about Elon here.
Are you sure that would stop voters from voting Islamic Communism? I mean, this is New York City.
Of course I’m not “sure”, but given that the majority of DSA supporters are over-educated white women, and mostly relatively affluent white women, how many do you think DON’T use Amazon? Amazon is practically a “utility” in modern life, and if you live in NYC, most don’t have the convenience of hopping in their car and driving to the local shopping center to buy some random thing. Amazon absolutely makes life easier.
Amazon will continue to serve NYC customers. They’ll just do it from fulfillment centers outside the city. The costs to those customers will go up.
AWFULS will probably blame Amazon (and Trump!), not the Communist Islamists. There is no getting through their emotions.
How does Amazon operate in NYC?! I would think most packages would be stolen.
