Folks, Somehow, the green dildo has returned.
If you think back to pretty much a year ago, you'll remember that there was an onslaught of green dildos being thrown onto WNBA courts mid-game. It was stopping the action every time. The craze then spread to the NFL where fans were throwing the sex toys onto the field, but it didn't really have the same effect. People ran the bit into the ground very quickly and it was no longer funny.

Showing my age here again, but the Pittsburgh Pirates had their “Green Weenie” to point at their opposing team….lol
It was supposedly a hot dog, though.
Is the green color significant ?
The sixth man. Kinda like how the fans are called the 12th man for football.

It was co-created in the 1966 season by legendary Pirates broadcaster Bob Prince (“The Gunner”) and team trainer Danny Whelan. The origin story: During a game against the Houston Astros at Forbes Field, Whelan waved a green rubber hot dog from the dugout at pitcher Dave Giusti while yelling something like “You’re gonna walk him!” Giusti walked the batter, the Pirates won, and Prince started talking it up on broadcasts. Within weeks, plastic versions were being sold to fans. 
Fans (and Prince from the booth) waved it at opposing players to put a hex/jinx on them and at Pirates players for good luck. Prince’s catchphrases included lines like “Never underestimate the power of the Green Weenie” and “The great Green Weenie has done it again!” after wins. It got national attention—including a 1966 Time magazine write-up that recounted anecdotes such as pointing it at Juan Marichal (who later injured a finger in a car door) and deploying it during a late-inning comeback win over the Phillies. 
No arms or legs.

Call me a Christian fundie, but I don’t think it’s funny. It’s nothing but a stupid distraction from the game itself.
