Microsoft employees donated over $2 Million to Democrats so far in 2026, 80% of all political donations. This from the company which studies "Pronouns in Software".

The Linux Foundation is overrun with huge donors like Microsoft and IBM. They seem to be killing Linux desktop.
Vibe coding with AI has infiltrated. Ubuntu is replacing safe and proven utilities written in C with buggy Rust versions.
A broken and incomplete Wayland is being forced on many distributions.
LGBTQ2S+ has infiltrated.

80% of the money doesn’t translate into 80% of the workforce being leftist. We know very wealthy people are leftist, for the most part, so the huge donations go to the left.

I wasn’t going to go there, because my point is, good luck if you think YOU’RE conscience rides on what others do with money you give them - but your points are VERY good - and ABSOLUTELY true.
Now, supporting things like Patriot Mobile, etc. - good if you can. But NO ONE should be climbing down anyone else’s throat about ANY of this.

I also wonder if Microsoft put any subtle pressure on their employees. I know the United Way is not a political organization. But at my job we were pressured to give to them.

Oh, and my union pressured us to give to their “political action committee”. Meaning of course their Democrat political action committee.
Again, a big nope from me.
I doubt it. Foreigners here on work visas are not allowed to contribute to American political campaigns.

About 15 years ago, our then-CEO was head of the United Way Drive for the Mpls-St Paul area. He wanted to show that he was THE big fish in a small pond by pushing our firm’s participation rates to all-time highs.
Back then, there was rarely a week that went by where we didn’t get an email from him that asked if we were contributing or a follow-up generic email reminding us that we can still make our contribution.
Couple that with department managers sending out occasional “friendly reminders” and it was a full court press on us. Those of us who balked were told that we could designate our contribution to a single charity under the United Way umbrella. Offers of department pizza lunches were bandied about for those areas that were lagging a bit behind.
I can’t call it oppressive - but it was definitely a borderline in your face experience.
Also -v and -a badges here. Now a Boeing blue badge.
