Kind of makes sense - it’s not like the Navy advertises being stuck out in the middle of the ocean.
“Makes sense”? When someone enlists in the Navy, they know full well that in most cases they will be assigned to an ocean going vessel not shore duty. Fed up with these cry babies complaining about their lives on board. They have TV, movies, great food, phones, video games, romantic interests, etc. Certainly not your daddy’s navy.
When I joined during Vietnam, they didn’t really ask “do you want to fight in a foreign country where everyone is trying to kill you?” What an entirely BS article, as usual.
Then, in the overseas t-shirt print shops we had t-shirts printed up with that on the front.
On the back we put a picture of the stern of a carrier sailing into the sunset and the line "But mostly it's just ships at sea!."
