Democrats narrow their list of 2028 presidential convention sites to Boston, Denver and Philadelphia

Democrats on Thursday narrowed the list of potential host cities for their 2028 presidential convention to Boston, Denver and Philadelphia as their party looks ahead to a wide-open primary to succeed President Donald Trump.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Ken Martin said in a statement the cities put forward “incredibly strong bids,” and he promised the convention would be an “inspiring celebration of our party’s future nominee.”

A final decision is expected to be made later this year by party leaders. Republicans have already chosen Houston for the site of their 2028 convention.

The Democratic convention, scheduled for Aug. 7-10, 2028, traditionally gives the party a chance to formally introduce its nominee to the country, rally the base and kick-start the most intense period of campaigning ahead of the general election.

The party didn’t specify why Atlanta and Chicago, which was the site of the 2024 convention, were eliminated. Officials visited all five cities in April and May, considering logistical and fundraising capacity among other factors.

The three finalists are liberal strongholds surrounded by the type of suburban areas that have become increasingly important to the party in recent elections. They also provide access to fundraising and key demographic and interest groups, like labor unions.

While Colorado and Massachusetts have gone Democratic in recent presidential elections, Pennsylvania has been among the biggest battlegrounds. Trump, a Republican, won Pennsylvania in 2024.

Which one has the best box wine? Boston? This is where the new commies will be introduced. They should be embraced.

It will be Philadelphia. No upside for them choosing Colorado or Massachusetts.

Good point. Will Shapiro be the nominee?

I thought the Dems decided in 2020 to do away with conventions, and was upheld in 2024…

The antisemitic Democrats will never nominate a Jew.

Hard to say. He’s like all the rest of them, but has the facade of a moderate. Plus, he’s also Jewish, which is not a résumé enhancer as a Democrat. He will run, and to be honest, the Democrats would be stupid not to have him on the ticket in some fashion. But supposedly, he was offered the VP slot by Harris and declined it, so he’s definitely looking for top billing. I like JD a lot, but 2028 is going to be very difficult for the Republicans. If the Democrats take Pennsylvania, it will be tough for JD to win.

Philadelphia will be pretty awkward when the Dems refuse to even consider Josh Shapiro - the arguably successful governor of a large state - simply because he is Jewish.

They could go to Boston where they could all get abortions, whenever they want. They could set up a tent on the Common and just kill babies all day. It will be paradise for them. //sarc

If I had to venture a guess, they would probably choose philly as PA is a MUST WIN state for them, and the other 2 are automatic blues, no matter what.

However this would require actually tactical thought and planning and I really honestly don’t know if the democratic leadership is capable of it... Not that they can’t do it, but they are so beholden to the bat shit crazy radical wing of their party that are they really going to give someone reasonable democrats like Shapiro and Fetterman the focus that would come with hosting the Convention in PA?

I thought the Socialist Democrats were 2 million in the RED right now?

They can’t even afford to rent a phone booth and phone in a convention, LOL!

It’ll need to be surrounded by fencing for safety purposes. That can get pricey. What did Pelosi do with her’s?

The party didn’t specify why Atlanta and Chicago, which was the site of the 2024 convention, were eliminated.

It's the same reason why Kamala will not be the nominee, no matter what polling shows today.

We’ve gotta get ahead of the curve by challenging them to early one-on-one debates in the spring. One subject at a time. Any democrat wannabe POTUS will want the air time. We got DeSantis, Cruz, JD.

July 2004. University of Colorado. It was Howard Dean vs. Governor Bill Owens and the subject was civil rights and affirmative action. It went well. This was 5 months after the scream took out Dean, meaning the WH was not at stake.

People would pay attention and the AOC’s won’t show up-airhead. It’s called flushing(smoking) them out.

I’ve suggested this before.
