Another ugly example of America’s collapsing standards of public behavior reportedly unfolded aboard a cruise ship in Florida, where authorities say an allegedly intoxicated couple responded to a simple request for quiet by forcing their way into a family’s cabin and attacking everyone inside, including a 9-year-old child.
Gannon Jacox, 29, and his girlfriend Brooklyn Hicks, 28, were arrested Saturday evening at Port Canaveral after the ship docked. Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey laid out the outrageous details in a Facebook post that left little to the imagination.
According to Ivey, Jacox and Hicks “were apparently arguing loudly after taking advantage of some adult beverages” when one of the victims asked them to quiet down.
Hicks didn’t like the request and went to confront the family. Jacox followed with his cell phone, started recording, and told Hicks to “beat them up.”
What followed was absolute mayhem.
The pair then pushed their way into the victims’ cabin, where the 9-year-old child was inside. A fight broke out. “As a fight ensued Jacox ends up hitting all 3 people (including the child) and Hicks was just swinging, hoping one would land,” Ivey wrote.
Jacox suffered a “pretty gross injury to his eye” that the sheriff said may have come from one of the victims defending themselves or from “friendly fire” courtesy of his girlfriend’s wild punches. Thankfully, none of the family members were seriously injured in what Ivey called a “ridiculous escapade.”

By “adult beverages” is meant, chronologically adult, not actually grown up.
The fatigue is real.
Not enough motive or money to get me on an airplane or cruise ship these days.
What is the price threshold for sanity, civility, safety and just a little decency these days?
Our last trip cross country was in ‘16. Then $150 a night got past most of the riff raff except in one crowded area. There, even the highest end available was sketchy.

At least he tried to look civilized in the pictures. He kind of looks embarrassed.

That’s understandable. But I see a few errors here. I’m guessing this was a discount cruise line. Try not to travel on a discount cruise line. You might get more entertainment than you bargained for.
And more importantly, don’t confront crazy people directly. Go through the proper authorities instead. In this case, contact the cruise officials.

Isn’t that the truth? Alcohol has been the culprit for many years in incidents like this but ADD “anything goes” today and this is what we get. It doesn’t state what time of day/night this happened but it’s usually when they can draw a crowd with their phone camera... Punishment in ALL cases like this where violence is the result should be “life without cell phones.”

Sadly, some people can only feel good about themselves by pointing out the flaws in others.
This dark trait in the human heart has been exploited by America’s enemies as they feed propaganda to the willing.
Brother you said a mouthful. This dark and dusky trait casts a somber umbra over the whole incident.

How can people think it’s justified to physically attack someone for a simple verbal request of decency?
If they want to beat up or kill you for that, kill them back.
