Frank Beard, the longtime drummer for legendary rock band ZZ Top, has died ... TMZ has learned.
According to the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner Frank passed away on August 17 at his Texas ranch with family by his side after a stay in hospice. A cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.
ZZ Top founder Billy F. Gibbons released a statement on his passing saying, “Today, Elwood and I lost a great friend and collaborator, and the world lost one of the most naturally innovative drummers and a great and true son of Texas. His signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top. The band of which he was part for six decades is going to keep on keeping on as he had wished.”

Only one member of ZZ Top left.
Damn.

We are losing all the good ones. R.I.P. Frank.
Aw... Geez.
And we’ve lost a great “beard”.
But, 77 is a pretty good run for a rocker.
RIP indeed!
Frank “the one without a beard” Beard.
Iconic beard, now gone.
Sorry to hear this.
A proper funeral would be a New Orleans style Bourbon Street funereal led by surviving members during the Austin City Limits down 6th street. It could not get much better than that.
Keith Richards survives.
And collects gis soul through the quickening.
There can be only one!
Is this drummer available?

😢
I hope there’s a section in Heaven where the 1960s and 70s play on an endless loop.
The irony was always strong!
If I recall, maybe in the early 80s, Gillette offered Dusty and Billy a million dollars each to shave off their beards for commercials.
Those Texas boys told Gillette to pound sand.
I'm with Frank. I never could grow a decent beard.
Later on, he had a beard. Just not the iconic ZZ Top style.
ZZ Top’s bottom. A great one, no doubt. R.I.P.
One of my favorite bands. So glad I got to see them live in concert.
Then it is no longer ZZ Top.
It is Z To.
