Project Hail Mary is my favourite movie of the year, and while many people have made videos explaining time dilation due to travelling close to the speed of light, nobody has tried to visualise how the universe appears to warp due to relativistic aberration. I wanted to create these visuals to give you an idea of what it would look like at these speeds, even without a warp drive or hyperspace nothing looks right.

I am of the opinion that no matter how smart we think we are we probably understand .000000001 percent of what there is to know and that the creator made it impossible for us to ever leave this solar system for a reason we probably don’t have the ability to even comprehend.

Not to mention that the mass of the biological entities, eyeballs, brains, etc would be approaching infinity....(assuming relativity is true)...how would any simulation be able to envision how those effects would be perceived?

Doesn’t increasing the mass of anything, break the conservation of matter laws? What parts of the atom start increasing mass? Protons, neutrons, quarks, gluons? Or do they all increase mass proportionately?

If it takes infinite energy to move a physical object to the speed of light, would the universe collapse if all energy in the universe is used for that purpose?

Yes, indeed. As speed increases, so does mass. This is true even at everyday speeds, but it is not something that we can notice. But at around 90% the speed of light, the effect becomes very noticeable.

More importantly, even if we travel at the speed of light, there is nowhere in the nearby universe we could get to in less than many hundreds of thousands or millions of Earth years...

Our galaxy is about 87,000 light years across...
Earth is about 27,000 light years from the center...

Doesn’t increasing the mass of anything, break the conservation of matter laws?

When you hop in your automobile and travel at 60 mph, your mass increases (slightly).

(Of course, that [slight] increase in mass is overwhelmed by other, extraneous factors, and so can be viewed as negligible.)

60 mph or 0.2% or 20% of the speed of light - it's only a matter of degree.
