Charlie Hatcher, the former state agricultural commissioner, rode support from prominent establishment Republicans to a victory over the CONTROVERSIAL congressman backed by President Donald Trump. He is a heavy favorite in the general election for the deep-red district.

While Ogles had arguably the most important endorsement in a GOP primary in the form of Trump, Hatcher had backing from current Gov. Bill Lee, former Gov. Bill Haslam and other prominent Republicans, like former Trump Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue.

I don't know much about the incumbent Ogles but it appears he just may be too spicey for us when it comes to the outspoken stuff. The new guy Hatcher is a Trumper. Does it suggest we're getting wiser when it comes to how it effects our brand or are we going back to the Bush stuff? You tell me.

Ogles is a solid conservative. I don’t lknow why he was defeated.

It sure helped that the TN old boy network (yahoo deep state) mini-gerrymandered his district so he couldn’t help but lose, but go ahead and think it was about him being “spicey.”

Hatcher is old old school, antebellum Hatcher of dairy farm fame, his campaign was ALSO bought by a leftist mega-PAC funded by a DSA-supporting California billionaire.

Hatcher is bought and paid for by the watermelon mafia “green on the outside, red inside” and may be a MAGA sweetheart but I’m sure he’ll get those data centers and windmills running on time.

I share Andy’s outspokenness on Islam
Charlie will be more subtle as much his personality as political acumen
Charlie has been vocal as a Trump supporter as well for those who care as I do

I believe we’re winning hearts and minds with the help of the leftist tilt towards communism. The hard conservatives can now take a lower profile and just be there when we need them. Ogles is not one of them. Our newest supporters should be lured in with honey not vinegar. While the democrats go further leftward we can try and fill the vacuum.

Think Dick Durban, Abu Ghraib, and Michael Savage. After Durban said all those rotten things about our military men on the senate floor he gave a lame apology. Savage was having none of it. Savage savaged Durban with both barrels. We needed that. Savage went off the rails on enough other stuff but he stepped up at the proper time. Think counter punching like Trump. Push and get your opponent to react. When they step over the line that’s when you pounce. Ogle seemed to step over the line when it came to attracting the fence sitters. Something tells me his mouth did him in.

He was probably defeated for two reasons:

1. His district lines have been redrawn.

2. There is a LOT of strong anti-incumbent sentiment among voters on BOTH sides of the aisle.

So was Tom Tancredo. Good man. Couldn’t gain the governor’s office. Ogles is not clean and pure as the wind-driven snow.

"Redrawn" is putting it mildly:

The top is how the district was as of the 2022 election, when Andy Ogles first got elected (and notably, this was after the district had already gotten redrawn to split away from Nashville, which helped contribute to the seat being taken away from Democrats for the first time since 1875).

The bottom is what it looks like now, as of this year's primary election.

Geographically, they're 80-90% different constituencies entirely.

Thanks for the graphic of the redrawn district, Ultra Sonic 007! I had not realized just how dramatically Ogles’ district had been redrawn. It looks like only a few slices of his constituents were included in the redrawn district! Someone in the Tennessee General Assembly must have had it in for Ogles.

To a constituency unfamiliar with him, “Charlie Hatcher” may have had an advantage with name being one of those “familiar” sounding names.

But the redrawing of the district was necessary due to the effort to draw more Republican seats statewide.
