There is one question that has been asked across the WNBA over the last month, and it’s about the inclusion of transgender athletes in women’s sports. The debate has continued to gain momentum since Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham spoke publicly about protecting women’s sports for biological women.
Golden State Valkyries head coach Natalie Nakase was recently asked about the issue, and she approached it from a different angle. As Nakase explained that her own experiences shape her views, the focus was more on inclusion rather than competitive fairness.
Nakase said she had dealt with criticism about her height and background and wanted to create an environment in the WNBA where players feel accepted rather than judged.
But that explanation did not sit well with Tennis legend Marina Navratilova, who has consistently argued that women’s sports should remain limited to biological females.
When Natalie said she wants women and young girls to have opportunities to play basketball, she also stated that she is including trans women in that.
The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion retweeted her comments on X, arguing that the debate cannot be stopped at including biological men if it comes at the expense of women competing for roster spots:
"Who are these women??? I mean, Wtf..."
“How is including males on women’s team inclusive for the female athlete who lost that spot to a male? The ignorance is astounding.”

No woman meets any of the qualifying times (or distance or whatever) for men in Olympic track and field competition. The only reason there are any women in the Olympics is because competition is restricted to women.
Yep, some of these idiots promote “inclusion” - meaning men in women’s sports:
“Transgender athletes have won approximately 890 medals in women’s competitions...spanning 29 different sports and over 400 competitions.”
These are medals, awards and scholarships that should have gone to girls and women:
— Lia Thomas set 15 school records in women’s events after transitioning.
—Mary Gregory set a women’s world record squat of 455 lbs raw in powerlifting.
—Veronica Newell set a national record in the women’s 45-49 Canadian indoor 5,000-meter race.
—Caroline Layt was part of a team that set an Australian national record in the 4x200-meter relay.
—A trans woman set 4 British indoor rowing records.
Well, yes. But on the other hand, when women’s record-setting performances are compared against men’s performances in identical distances and on identical tracks, some 15,000 men of various ages, weights, and divisions (high school, college, Div 2 and 3 college, Div 1 college, professional (other sports such as football and basketball), and Olympic have run faster than the women’s record-holder.
Wow, Boy George and Martina Navratilova as the voices of reason in the same week.
Ms Natalie Nakase, may we should change WNBA coaching into a full contact part of the game? Maybe you would understand……

Of course! The perfect solution to the problem! Give transgender women their own league to compete in!
What do you mean, the idea is offensive and discriminatory? If trannies shouldn't have their own league, then why should biological women have one?

Suppose she had herself surgically altered to make herself 7’ 2” - would that be acceptable for the purposes of inclusion?
