The food holiday was first celebrated in 1977, when Stan Makowski, the mayor of Buffalo, New York, declared July 29 to be National Chicken Wing Day. The origin of the chicken wing is believed to be traced back to 1964, when Teressa Bellissimo, owner of Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York, created the snack for her son and his friends. At the time, chicken wings were typically used for soup stock, but she deep fried them and tossed them in butter and hot sauce.

I think the chicken wing originated far earlier than 1964...

Which came first? The chicken or the chicken wing?

Off Topic:
Owner of Anchor Bar Teresa Bellissimo, has/had one of those Italian names that nearly sounds like what it means, at least to my ears.

Bellissimo = Beautiful, stunning and gorgeous

Wrong question.

According to evolutionary biology, the egg always comes first.

I pride myself on my Weber charcoal grilled wings but I can in all confidence recommend as my #1 backup Walmart’s Bettergoods Chicken Wings.

With several flavors available, we are partial to the Garlic Butter Dry Rub flavor.

Precooked, these can be ready in 30 minutes.

Those and some crispy tater tots and we’re good. πŸ‘

Try doing vortex baby back party ribs.

Plenty of YouTube videos....a great alternative to having to cook 2+ hours for ribs. πŸ‘

Malcolm does a good job here.....I followed his process and just left out the asian spin.

Also, if you haven’t picked up a grate with a center cutout, I’d highly recommend it.

The temps are so high using the vortex it’ll burn out the center of your grate after just a few cooks. πŸ‘

Sriracha? No. Crystal or Trappey's Red Devil.

I'm 82....I can remember chicken wings in our spaghetti sauce. This would be in the 50's. They were 3 lbs/$1.

It was the bbq sauce that came came later.

I don't remember bbq sauce when I was a kid. The first I had was in the 60s...My mother in law made ribs & bbq in the oven.

I was just referring to the lazy wording in the article.

Chickens have always had wings...
