China is likely using a shell game of some sort to acquire the gold.
All the gold in California, from a bank in the middle of Beverly Hills, in somebody else’s name. These transactions are covered by “paper gold”, a certification that there is, somewhere, maybe, an actual pile of gold sitting on a pallet.
Nobody seems to know just where that pile is, though.
The people who bought their oil that they have in reserves. They would only take gold for the oil
