A Venezuelan man allegedly in the United States illegally is in jail after being charged in the death of an elderly Florida woman by backing over her with an SUV in a grocery store parking lot.
On May 17, Deborah Murphy, an 82-year-old grandmother, was walking back to her car on a crosswalk outside a Publix in Panama City Beach when she was struck by a Toyota 4Runner, according to court records.
She was pushed to the ground by the SUV, but the vehicle continued backing up, "running over Ms. Murphy," according to an arrest affidavit submitted by the Florida Highway Patrol.
Carlos Suarez-Contreras, 26, was the driver of the vehicle, court records show. Luis Sanabria, 29, was the front-seat passenger.
Both were determined to be in the country illegally, according to arrest records.

Before conducting an immigration investigation, the deputy on the scene noted that Suarez-Contreras gave "suspicious" answers to his questions.
Sanabria immediately left the scene on foot before law enforcement arrived, according to arrest records. He "only returned when I had Suarez-Contreras call him," a deputy reported later.
Sanabria was found to have an expired visa, according to the incident report. He was released into the custody of ICE, Jacob Navarro, public affairs specialist for the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, told Fox News Digital.

There’s a lesson here for all of us...you cannot be too careful when walking through parking lots. I can’t count the number of times I’ve been walking up a parking lot aisle and I see a car start to back out just as I approach the car. The drivers are not looking around and not looking behind their car. Sometimes when it’s been close, I thump the car with my fist and that startles the driver. They probably think they ran something over. If I see a person in the driver’s seat, engine running, backup lights on, I stop and give that car a wide berth.
NO sanctity of life with these ILLEGAL INVADER, turd world moochers!!
Deport them all!
Well, that is just common sense, especially walking through a parking aisle.
Grandma gave a very wide berth ... as she was on THE CROSSWALK, walking to her aisle.
yeah, thumping is the only option if the backing starts just as you walk behind, because they might not hear or heed a yell ...
Well, one has to admire their determination.
“allegedly in the United States illegally”
Why is this in the article, much less the first sentence? It is disproved later in the article.
Hey Family, wanna telegraph your displeasure? Start throwing nooses on the doorstep of the place where this animal is being held.
Let the criminal and/or the “justice system” figger out who is the target.
AP style manual.
“Sanabria was found to have an expired visa,”
I dated a Cuban woman one time who came over in one of the amnesties. Through her I met several Venezuelan families who had come here on tourist visas and stayed. I think that goes on a lot more than people realize. As far as driving, we assume everyone knows how to drive. That’s not even true in our country, much less 3rd world countries. In an extreme example: “ In Haiti, approximately 1.2% of the population owns a car,”. They can come here and pass a driver’s test (or not) but they have no real experience driving.
I almost got hit in a food store parking lot while I was in the crosswalk that the “shopper pickup” employees yes. Didn’t even slow down. I kicked the rear door, probably left a dent, and the fool kept going. I asked an employee how they avoided getting hit. She told me that she had experienced several close calls. I explained to her that in Chicago, doing this downtown would result in several hundred dollars of damage to a car door and the victims would just dare the driver to call the police. Saw it happen.
You seem to want to imply it was the lady’s fault. What did your mind not understand?
It was an illegal alien from Venezuela.
The chance he did it on purpose is significant.
Pronto.
